my webcam works fine but i don't seem to be able to show it to any of my contacts. I tried last night, I could see myself but when I invited my friend to join me, a message came back to say that she didn't have video conferencing installed. She doesn't have a webcam, but can see other people's. I did not have an option to 'show my webcam' it just kept asking me if i wanted a video conference, but I didn't want to do this, only let her see my new hair!! Does anyone know why this is?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

there could be the problem with registry keys conflicting with each other,
Tools > Audio and video setup...
Follow the instructions on the setup screen and once its finished, you will find that the webcam should be able to show up.
If it doesn't show the webcam on the other person, tell him to switch
his status to busy for 5 seconds and then back, hopefully that should
come up on the other persons screen.
If this hasn't work in most cases it should work - You will have to
downgrade to Windows Live Messenger 8.5 and hopefully it should work.
If this hasn't work, go to the HP website and search up webcam drivers
for your device and then install it on your computer - Hopefully your
webcam would work. if it does not work then you have to download reginout registry cleaner to fix this problem
hello you've probably given up and binned the cam by now - we nearly did. but solved it last night. It's the annoying photo editing program that opens automatically when your camera opens up that's interfering with Skype. called magic-i or something like that. Remove that from your comp and the camera works fine. good luck!!
I have a Dell XPS M1330 with integrated webcam. Suddenly the webcam cannot be opened by Windows Live Messenger, have tried uninstalling windows messenger and re-installing and didn't work. and a cat keeps caming up
your cam has to be setup on msn as well After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on Action. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting and follow the instructions.
let me know if this helped
You've got graphic rendering problem bcos, the webcam drivers installed in your laptop don't work correctly. ie) the driver installed forces your webcam to take a snapshot at a resolution that is not supported by the webcam hardware...So, tell me ur laptop model number and I'll let u know abt the drivers....
