Stove will not self clean

I have a viking gas range. The oven works but the self clean feature does not. The door will lock and the fan will come on, but there is no ignition inside the oven when dialed into the self clean cycle. I was wondering if the self clean uses its own ignitor, or what else could be the issue

Viking VESO 530SS Oven. Self clean light flashing.

Question edited for clarity.

The whole idea of Self Clean feature is to keep the makers into steady sales of spare parts. The components can only tolerate those temperatures for a number of cycles before elements, door locks and control boards start failing. Consumers don't realize the heat involved!

between 800°F and 900°F Self-cleaning ovens bring the heat so you don't have to spend hours scrubbing. Traditional self-cleaning cycles heat the oven between 800°F and 900°F, helping turn soil and spills to a powdery ash you can then wipe away. They utilize only heat-no chemicals-and are built to withstand high temperatures. (except they aren't)
Either the door lock has failed or the control board has failed.

Hi,

Please double check that the oven is not still on cleaning mode. Also, please check the fuse(s) that your oven depends on to make sure that have not turned off or haven't blown unexpectedly.

Thank you.

If there is power to the unit (lights turn on) I would check the fuses and switches especially the one for door lock mechanism if you noticed a glitch. But a lot of times if you experiences problems after running a self-cleaning function, including locked door issue, the solution could be as simple as resetting a switch and no actual replacement parts needed. It all depends. If you are in Los Angeles, we could send a Viking repairman the same day you call us. : Viking Appliance Repair

I cant get my viking 30inch electric range to self clean. it has a self clean spot on the knob and on the temperature knob but when both in place nothing happens.

You might need to lock the oven door to get the self clean to go on. My stove had a lever which locked the oven door when you pushed it sideways. It was in the middle above the oven door, in the gap... Hope this helps!

Viking Self Cleaning Latch Stuck

You have to basically split the stove apart to replace the self clean latch assembly. Not easy I don't think. I would get service. But tell the techs not to overdo it on the price and try to get the part yourself from Viking. Good luck.

Did you give it time to cool down? If so, probably a control issue.
