Hello.

Use original disc installation maybe the installation disc is not compatible. if your system is branded you need only the windwos recovery disc. but if you try this already maybe you can try updating the bios but im not convence in updating the bios.

For now i will suggest you to change the CD ROM disk maybe this can cause failure installation.

Windows installation is very slow ?

As a guess you are installing Windows 7. Yup it is very very very slow. ;-]

The first time I installed 7 I thought there was something wrong but that is just the way it works. XP or Vista will install in about 30-40 minutes while 7 on the same hardware can take 3-4 hours (or more).
No fix for this other than finding something to do while you wait.

My computer starts windows and restarts

It would be best to start with a fresh bios flash that you can download from

http://www.perfectdrivers.com/drivers/Bios/Soltek-SL-K890Pro-939-Bios-T1-4

or

http://driverscollection.com/?H=SL-K890Pro-939&By=Soltek

After this is installed then start the computer in SAFE mode and run a full virus, malware and spyware scan.

Then restart the computer in normal mode and if it fails again you will have to use a Windows restore disc, if you have one, or use the Windows installation disk to start and run a Repair on the system then restart it. Then download all the remaining up top date drivers at

http://rapidshare.com/files/12368442/SL-K890Pro-939.rar (51.394 MB) No pass required.

And run a full virus, malware and spyware sweep on the download before using it. Then install all the latest drivers to you system and restart. Then check for any Microsoft updates.

Firmware problem with P4M900T-M ecs elitegroup motherboard

Hi,

Reading that my first thought is motherboard bios or motherboard drivers. because it says firmware, i think bios is the first thing you want to check.

understandable, however a lot of motherboards will now update inside of windows, (although i wouldnt try it inside 7 due to it being a beta), and are protected in various ways from problems. but checking motherboard manual or manufacturers website to see how they do the bios update is always worthwhile. And if your unsure, then safest option is don't. Always worth looking for additional options first.

Thanks for using "Fixya".

Motherboard won't power up past the onboard green light

I have only had this kind of problem in the past with generic *white box* computers, never from Dells, HPs or other name machines. I have always believed that this was probably due to the equipment not being adequately tested and thus not appearing on Microsoft?s hardware compatibility list. More recently problems like this have worked out to be problem processors, motherboards and sometimes memory. As you would suspect all the diagnostics tests worked out fine, but never the less replacing them made the problem go away. Since the motherboard is new I would suspect the parts recycled from your old machine. If this is not part of a Windows business network a trick you might try is installing the hard drive on another PC and install XP there. Then remove the hard drive and reinstall it on the original PC. If it works all you will have to do is install your drivers and you?re good to go. I?ve done this on two PCs, giving full warning to the owners. Years later the machines are still running strong with no problems. Good luck, let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate this post.
