The CRX880A is a cd writer and DVD reader it doesn't record dvd only plays them Hope this answers all your questions Please remember to Rate/vote for any solution that helps you out. Thanks for using Fixya.
Check the type of the blank CD/DVD you are using. Certain players won't be able to play CD-RW for instance.
If that doesn't solve the problem you might try to slow down your burn speed for a better quality CD/DVD. Sometimes a faster burn speed will lower the quality and other devices can have trouble reading these.
You need to read on the drive and see exactly what type of drive it is. A DVD-ROM drive is read only and will NOT burn DVD's. The drive needs to read DVD-RW, in order to burn DVD's.
You should check for corruption of your CD/DVD burning software from whereever you got it. Sometimes some burning software isn't good enough to work adequately. I'd test some new burning software to see if that is the problem, if upbrading your burning software doesn;t do the trick. You can downlowad free trials of Roxio, NTI, and other good burners to test this hypothesis. And, of course, try calling LaCie support.
Ok.. The dvd-r laser might have died, but a seperate laser handles the CDrs.. Can it still READ DVD's if it can, you might be ok still.. Grab a simple free dvd burner program like AVS or HTfireman and try with them.. Also.. different blanks. I doubt its a driver problem...
i would say for some reason your dvd player is not compatible from now on with that brand of blank dvd!
get the firmware update from the brand website all you do is download the file burnit on a cd and put it in the dvd player should fix most and eventual problems
