Question about NexxTech 4-Port Ethernet Broadband Router (N4PROUTER)

1 Answer

Losing connection For some reason this router seems to just lose connection to the internet whenever if feels like it. It regains the connection very quickly but it still boots me out of my game and is pretty annoying. I dont have to be running more than one computer for it to happen. Sometimes it will not do it for 6-7 hours other times it is much more frequent about every hour or two. If I disconnect the router it doesnt happen at all. Any help would be cool.

Try to play first directly to the modem and check if it does the same problem coz maybe it's just your modem dropping the connection..

Keep losing connectivity

This is usually caused by the setup of the TCP/IP properties, most people do not have static IP addressing, so open the Wireless Connetion Properties window, find the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and select it then select the properties button to bring up another window showing the properties for this, select the "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically", OK out of these dialogs and that should take care of it.

Lose internet connection

Normally this means that you have to update the firmware of the router. If you just recently purchased it you can call 8003267114 so that linksys can walk you through the upgrade. If your not under warranty message me and ill give you a walkthrough.

Losing internet connection when enabling ICS on the wireless network connection

Do not enable ICS on any of the computers that are connected to a router regardless if it's wired or wireless, you only need to enable ICS is if you don't have a router/server on your network(the purpose of a router is to share a single internet connection from your ISP). To connect your computer wirelessly to the router(on a Windows XP computer given that you do not have a 3rd party Wi-fi application installed) is to right click on wireless network connection on the System Tray(lower right hand side of the computer's Desktop near where the clock is) or you can do it the hard way by going to Control Panel then Network Connections and choose view available wireless network and under the list of available network that your computer can detect, select the network name(also called SSID) of your wireless router and try to connect(of course if you enabled Wi-fi security you also need to key-in the security key(WEP/WPA) you configured on your router and that's it both wired and wireless computer/devices connected to the router should work at the same time.

Router rebooting?

Try the following...
  1. Is your Power adaptor is loosely connected to the power socket?
  2. Check is the power adaptor produces more heat?
  3. Try to connect the device to the UPS if not..
If these are not the issue then there is possiblity of device failure.
