Mine just did the same thing, so i took it all apart and spun the motor with my hands for a few minutes. And it began to work. I think it is just because the motor is seized let me know how you make out.

Electric dryer runs shuts off then starts again on its own

This could be a bunch of different things. #1 detach dryer vent and clean out. Try running dryer with vent not attached for 10 seconds. (Warning, lint and sand will likely come blasting out the back. Reattach and try. #2 Likely is that you have lint buildup inside. Unplug dryer. Remove back cover. Clean air path from exhaust through lint trap. Look inside or remove heater as well. You are likely overheating the dryer and the sensor is shutting it down. #3. Unplug the heating element and then run dryer. Does it shut off still? No Then the sensor on the heating element is bad. Yes then the timer is bad.

Maytag Dryer runs for 8-10 seconds then shuts off accompanied by burning smell

When you say it runs for 8 - 10 seconds, do you mean it spins for that long or the flame is lit for that long?

We just finished a load in the dryer and it worked fine. When we went to start another load it wouldn't start. The circuit works, it is plugged in, and the door is shut

Are your lint traps clean? Also, your vent hose going out the back of the dryer sometimes gets clogged up, and this will shut down your dryer until it is cleaned out. Try this, and if it still doesn't work - try shutting the dryer's circuit breaker off (or if its easier to unplug the dryer), and then back on again. This will reset the breaker, and then you can try running your dryer again. In fact, you can do the circuit breaker step first. If this doesn't work, then clean the lint trap, vent, etc. - and then return to the circuit breaker step. I hope this works for you. If not, let me know. I'll check back with you in a little bit. Good Luck!  Jim

I can't put the lint trap back into the slot it is supposed to be in. Have been using this dryer all day. I cleaned the lint trap out and it still won't slide back in. The lint trap is on top of dryer....

You probably have lint buildup inside the machine. try reaching inside it with a brush or something to clean it out. Also, it may be dusty, but run it for a few seconds with the lint trap out. That may blow the obstruction out.

My electric dryer runs for awhile then it just shuts off after about 15 minutes of running? Its a neptune.

a couple of things here may be the problem.. First I would check to make sure my lint trap and the dryer exhaust is not full of lint causing the dryer to heat at a higher temp throwing the high limit switch into disconnect due to the amount of heat generated by the coils. This hi limit switch is a safety device to prvent fires. If you find a lot of lint in the dryer vent or the dryer lint trap, once cleaned, see if the machine doesn't operate like you want. Second. The motor bearings or strator may be going out and the motor is going into thermal overload and shutting down to prevent, as you guessed, a fire. I would check the lint trap and dryer exhaust first since it is more than likely the problem and is cheaper to fix. A wet/dry vac should do the trick. Also remove the back of the dryer to clean out the lint paying special attention to the area around the motor vent which can get blocked causing the motor to over heat. Once these vents are cleared the motor may be fine. Make sure to do all of the above with the dryer disconnected from the power source..

Good luck hope this helped you some

Kenmore 80 series keeps shutting off. new motor and lint line cle

take off the vent line from the back of the dryer,if it runs fine your vent line is blocked or the outside vent where the flapper opens might have a cage on it to keep animals out of the line,it keeps the animals out but it's a lint trap.if you have a long run use a leaf blower and blow out the vent line,if that's ok check the t-stats on the heater box,

Dryer shuts off on E-1 code..Lint trap has been cleaned as well as vent hose and vent riser to outside.

Check for brisk air flow at outlet of vent hose (hose disconnected). If weak, remove lint screen and retry. If now has brisk flow, clean screen in hot water and detergent.

Odor around the lint trap, cleaned but persists

The lint trap is an opening into the dryer vent and vent pipe. The dryer needs to be pulled out from the wall, the vent pipe disconnected and then the back of the dryer and the entire pipe cleaned of lint and other debris. this is the only way to get rid of the odor.

Gas dryer - inadequate heat

Clean out your lint tray and hose. It sounds as if it is stopped up. The gas dryer automatically shuts off to prevent fires or overheating. The thermostat is probably O.K. since it will run for a few seconds each time.Let me know what you find out. Clean the lint trap first.
