Question about Bose Companion 3 Computer Speakers

Bose Companion 5 Problems

I purchased a Bose Companion 5 System in the US and it worked perfectly fine with my Laptop. Then I brought it back to Germany, bought an according converter (220V to 110V) and plugged it in again. The System detects and installs the Companion 5 like desired but NO sound at all is coming. Any help for this out there? Did I already destroy sth?

    Hi have the same problem. Everything was working fine in California but when I moved back to Europe I can't make it work. Thegreen lid is on but there is no sound. I have mac and PC and the same issue. I have the converter for it with 400Watts and that should be plenty for 300Watts speakers. Why it's not working? Any ideas?

    Folks, today I got a brandnew Companion 5 from Bose after I sent my non-working one to them asking for help. They even sent me a European device (230V) at NO cost. Although that solved my problem (system works perfectly fine) they didn´t tell me what the problem the US-device had with the converter. Thanks for you assistance and help. To "burningman": try the same. It took a little while but problem solved.... :)

Email support@bose.com or contact a Bose Support Specialist in Germany; or call US support at 1-800-367-4008. Something very odd is happening here. You are using the same laptop, correct? If not, let me know, as there are some things to try. If Bose has a solution, I'd love to hear it.

    Well, anyway, something may have happened either to your computer or the Bose in shipment--you did check the device manager as well as "manage audio devices" under sound in control panel?

Control Pod for Bose Companion 5 speaker system

I had the same problem right out of the gate, the volume dial on my control pod for my Companion 5 wasn't working, however, the touch pad and LED worked. I called Bose customer service and was instructed to:

First, unplug the power directly at the back of the woofer while the unit was on;

Next, I was instructed to unplug the control pod, visually inspect for any damage/defect;

Finally, re-seat the control pod on the back of the woofer and then lastly plug the power cable back into the woofer.

It worked like a charm. I hope this is helpful!
