Screen problem with HP DV 9000

Hi,
The screen on my HP DV9000 goes blank after about 30 seconds from boot up. The screen flashes and goes blank. If you look closely, you can see the screen faintly in the background. When i run the computer on battery power and connect to an external monitor, it works fine. As soon as i plug the power supply in, the external monitor pops up a messege saying no signal found. What do you think?

i have tried a different power supply and this hasnt fixed the problem. ive been told i have to change the screen and as you can imagine, this is costly. Do you think i can get around it without having to change the screen?

I think Your computer C.P.U. power supply unit is not working properly. because these type of problem occur when Power Supply Unit is not working properly.........

So Don't afraid at all just change your c.p.u. power supply unit with new one (it is not costly at all).

Hp dv9000 will not turn on the blue lights come on and goes off right away. I bought a new cord and adapter and it does the same thing. I did try taking the battery out and holding power button for 30 sec...

vast posts here on black screens of deathh
the screen is 100% black and never once shows text or that HP logo. 100% dead black, then that is the screen back lamps dead
as most long ago did, go dead , just not yours.
called the CCFL lamps dead.
ok the battery out test1
the other check is the fan is the fan blowing, it must or the CPU overheats fast and (it shuts itself off, like magic (intel inside)
see slide show here for Laptop link packup causes.overheated
http://www.pcdied.com/overheated.html

my guess is it is there, below... as all do every one at 20k hours.
see flash light test. there. on test one, do that.?
see test #1 (battery out, ac pack connected and working)

http://pcdied.com/black-screen.html#Basic-basics-101

if the flash sight trick passes, (see data) ask how to fix that
or read the service manual at HP.

see the list of HP , with CCFL here. dv9000 is it.

if yes, ccfl dead

Dv 9000 what lcd fits it

1) 17 inch WXGA (1440 X 900 Pixels)

Here's an example;

http://www.screentekinc.com/HP_Pavilion_DV9000_Series_DV9009NR--17-inch--1440x900-wxgaplus-laptop-lcd-screen.shtml

Another one;

http://www.pcpartsltd.com/hp-pavilion-dv9000-screen-170inch-lcd-screen-p-1791.html?zenid=ihi8on44ad0gdnuab8ipt2ujb5

MAIN THING > Match the Part Number on the back of the LCD screen to the one you are going to purchase.

It isn't just whether the screen is the correct size, and dimensions. Whether it is a glossy finish, or matte.
It is that the cabling on the back of the LCD screen is correct, and the LCD screen matches the Inverter that is installed.

Run system restore to factory default.

Start the system and hold down the f11 key till you hear a beep. Then follow the onscreen instructions.

Good luck.

Everyb time I turn on my hp dv 9000 loptop the blue keys turn on but the monitor does not?

I have seen alot of dv9000 inverter or screen problems. Nice laptop but it does have its problems. I would check the inverter first, they are relatively inexepensive.

Hp dv9000 will not start up. blue lights are go

you get a black screen right, nothing at all then no bios, no logo, nothing at all?
Do you get any beep codes and if so in what order?
did you try different ram?
First try to plug your laptop to an external monitor. If it works, you screen is bad, if it doesn't you probably need a new motherboard.

HP dv9000

Hello jarkk, I believe your problem is with your backlight inverter. the hard drive should be installed for this process of checking it on an external monitor. with the hard drive removed it will not boot to the operating system. with the drive in, use the external monitor. if the monitor works when plugged into the external monitor plug, this will eliminate a bad video card. if the screen is still black on the laptop screen, replace your backlight inverter. the last case cenario is to make sure your backlights are not burnt out.
