KEY PAD SEEMS FINE BUT WHEN YOU HIT START UNIT MAKES LOUDER THAN NORMAL HUMMING NOISE AND UNIT DOESN'T HEAT ANYMORE

The magnetron has failed or the high voltage transformer is the problem, either way! it is very expensive to replace, cheaper to buy new.

It doesn't heat anymore. About 5 years old only.

Check the door safety switch. When they go bad, they oven doesn't know if the door is closed or not. Find them inside on the side opposite the hinge. They go bad because we (read "you and me" open the door with the oven running and that cooks the contacts on these little switches.

Turns on but not heating food sounds a bit louder

Hi, this is common in most microwaves. this abnormal noise is coming from a faulty Magnetron. this device is responsible for the heating process and, it is damaged and not heating at all at this point.Simply replace the Magnetron and, this unit will start to heat once more.

Have GE JVM2050 over the range microwave, which stopped heating food and water since this morning. All other functions including light, key pad, clock, turntable work normal. The magnetron sound also

if everything works except the heating, it is most likely the mag tube is on its way out.........that is the most common reason for it not too cook.......since the microwave is a GE and it is 3.5 years old, i would say you are better off buying a new microwave, the mag tube starts at around $70.00 and up + the labor it costs too have a service person put it in........around another $60.00

3 year old unit, oven works, microwave does not

hi,

You may need a new magnetron, contact sharp or the store you got it from; most microwaves have a 3-5 year warranty on the magnetron. If it's not in warranty, find a good appliance repairman, this is a difficult and dangerous repair job.

Kitchenaid KCMS185JSS2

Since the noise is louder, I would suspect a shorted high voltage rectifier diode or failed magnetron.

That model may have a 5-year warranty on the magnetron.

Your owner's manual and warranty guide can be downloaded here, and on that same page you'll find Customer Service contact info.

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose connection on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part (such as a shorted diode)

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk
