No matter what I put in, DVD or CD, it says loading for a while then says "No Disc". Never buy from Mintek again.

I have the same problem and I have probably only used the thing less than 10 times. Very disappointed. It doesn't matter what kind of disc you use.

I had this problem on my Mintek MDP-5861 and was amazed when I solved it.

When I put in a CD or DVD it would not spin up and I would get a message No Disc. I was thinking the motor or laser was bad.

I took the thing apart and visually checked all the cables and electronics and everything seemed to be in order. After searching for technical manuals and playing with it for a couple of hours I was about to throw it in the trash.

Instead, I read the tip about cleaning it, and all I did was brush the top of the laser a few times with my shirt, put in a CD and then it worked!

I could not believe this! I have owned all kinds of CD and DVD players over the years and even very careful cleaning the lens never corrected any problems. So, to swipe the lens with my shirt a couple of times and suddenly have a DVD player that would not play at all suddenly start working I was amazed.

When I visually checked all the components the laser appeared clean, so it must have just been an invisible speck or smudge on the surface of the laser lens that was causing this.

I would not recommend using any solvents, cleaners, or alcohol.

Try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. Other than that there is little that can be done. The optics are having trouble reading the disc. You can confirm this by trying a music CD. If the CD works, it is a good indication that the optics are starting to fail.

My 1710 mintek keeps saying loading but doesn't load. What do I do? Thank You.

Hi.

Clean the lens with a dvd cleaning kit. It should solve the problem. If you load the disc and you don't hear the disc whirling, it means that the motor is not spinning thus, the player will not identify any disc. It is time to have the dvd lens repaired or replaced.

Hope this helps. Thank you for using Fixya!

My Mintek 1770 dvd player will not load the disc because when the lid goes down the little plastic pointer does not properly engage the button that starts the DVD spinning when the lid is closed. If I try...

I load the CD put I don't hear it spinning at all

No it isn't, because your switch isn't tripping when you close the DVD. Try holding the lid down with your hand and listen for spin. If your DVD starts spinning you will need to locate the plastic pin protruding from your lid and extend it with superglue and a piece of cardboard. This will make up for the warp in your lid, and allow the switch to close.

Disc does not spin and shows on screen that there is no disc

With the power turned off, open the DVD Player, and then open the top where you load the DVD into the player. Locate the laser lens and notice that the laser is attached to a transport assembly that moves the laser diagonally outward in a slot. 1. Slide this assembly outward to the end of its track. 2. Slide the assembly back inward to the closest inward position. 3. Repeat the process of sliding the assembly outward and then back inward.4. Put in a music CD and let it play all the way through. This helps to calibrate the laser head assembly movement. When the music CD is finished playing. 5. Put in a DVD, and you should have a working unit again This is a factory solution from Mintek that was given to a customer who ask for help with the forever loading disc problems. This solution may work on other models of portable DVD players. Most portable DVD players use this type of transport mechanism. Try this solution it might work for you. I hope this information helps you with your problem.
