The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

I have a TDK DVD/CD burner that my computer does not recognize. When I turn it on my computer makes a sound like it knows it has been turned on but when I go to burn a music cd it says that there is no CD...

hi blgard,

please ensure u have wired up this internal combo drive properly,
- that IDE cables and power cable is connected, that the jumper setting
is properly(if using this as a single drive without any harddrive connected to the same IDE cable jumper must be set to single!)
- that in BIOS both ODE channels are activated and drive detection is set to auto

when done this properly, the drives will be listed when booting up(press pause button, right before windows is loading, to see list)

if not, use the other channel(echange IDE plugs on the mainboard), retry
and see.

when booting the green lamp of the drive should light up shortly!

then goto windows/setting/hardware, run hardware detection/device manager and wait for the new device to show up. Make sure you have the driver CD ready for windows will ask for it, (if you don't have another cd-drive ready, copy content of cd onto usb-stick/thumbdrive instead )
le win search for the drivers on the cd/usb-device,
proceed installing, finish and reboot.

if now windows can't find the drive (see win explorer)
but it is listed when booting up, get the latest drivers from the manufacturer's homepage and reinstall drivers!

I hope this works for You!

Western Digital External HDD not appearing in My Computer

It could be that the OS is not assigning a drive letter to your removable drive. To do this, go to disk management and assign one.

Assuming OS is Win 2000/XP/Vista

Right-click My Computer then Manage
Click on Disk Management
Right-click the removable drive and click on Change Drive Letter
Assign a drive letter and click OK
Your drive should now show up on My Computer

Hope this helps.

Gud morning, I my dvd desappered. I cant load any cd. the iocon is not showning. how do i rectify this. I am using HP Pavillion dv6700. my dvd device is "pioneer dvd rw dvr-k17b ata device". Please i need...

ok first of all has anything vhanged, there is a known problem when upgrading XP to vista, where te cdrom.sys rivers arent installed. this is fixable but tedious, if it just simply dissapeared without change, go to device manager:

XP: START> RIGHT click my computer > click "properties" > "Hardware" tab > click the "device manager" button.
VISTA: START> RIGHT click my computer > click "properties" > on the left click "device manager"

under DVD/CD-ROM drvices, you should see your dvd drive, now the field is probably expanded already and it most probably has a yellow exclamation mark next to the device, or it has a large yellow question mark. this means the driver for the vd rive has either failed or is not working properly.

quick fix for this is to simply RIGHT click on the device, click uninstall, confirm, and once un-installed, re-start the machine. apon restart windows should automatically detect the dvd drive as a new device and install it.

if there is simply no device listed under DVD/CD-ROM devices, or the catergory isnt there, windows isnt detecting it at all, which commonly means the dvd drive itself has failed, (the fact it may be powered and opens/closes is irrelevant). but before throwing it away, try changing the IDE/SATA cable. if the uninstall/re-install doesnt work, you may need to re-install it from a winows disk, which is a little tricky. but can be done. let me know if it doesnt work and i will pace you through it.

Computer cant detect device

Try going to add hardware. Then select yes, the hardware is installed. When it gives you the list of installed devices, go to the bottom and select add new hardware device. After that select the advanced option to select "install the hardware I manually select from a list". On the next page, select network adapters. Then click "have disk" you will now have to put your driver in a folder(usually on the desktop). After you select have disk you will browse for the folder which has the driver. Make sure your driver has a file that has the extension ".inf" as this is needed to install the driver.
Hope this helps

None of my external hard drives or flash drives recognized by Vista

Ok Go into your hardware device manager and uninstall your Universal Serial Bus Controllers and if there is mass storage device also uninstall it. Click on action -> scan for hardware changes, then it should automatically install the drivers back now it should detect.
