Open the laptop, pry up the right hand edge of the strip above the keyboard and lift it slowly working from right to left so it snaps out of the base unit. You will then see 2 screws on above F5 and the other above F10, remove these screws and lift keyboard out far enough to detach the ribbon cable underneath.

You should be able to pop the frame off that surrounds the top part of the keyboard, then you will see a screw or 2 that holds it in.Be very carful when you try to take it out,as the ribbon cable is connected to the mainboard with a plastic bar,you will need to carefully pull both left and right sides up before you can remove(unplug) the cable.Good luck:)

Spilled liquid on Keyboard!

1. Purchase plastic keyboard cover. 2. Keep coffee etc. anywhere not near keyboard.

For spill, unplug keyboard. If non sugar liquid, invert keyboard, shake or tap gently. Wipe with lent free absorbent cloth while still inverted. If soda or coffee with sugar, pour 1/4 cup of clear clean (distilled the best) water onto keyboard (yes), Then invert. Let dry a minimum of several hours still inverted. I cheat with a hairdryer on low 6-12 inches. After keyboard is completely dry (and cool). Plug in after turning computer off, restart, test all keys, including shift, option etc. If keys miss or don't work buy new keyboard and cover! Aloha, Cliff

I spilled coffee on the key board and need to replace it. The key board appears to be sealed in with a plastic surround. How do i get the key board out? It is an E-system 3213Intel celeron. Yours hopefully...

Take the keyboard and run water over it and take it apart and let the component dry out (while it is not connected to the computer).

I had a mechanic tell me that this is what he did to a keyboard that was part of an automobile engine analysis Bear Ace machine at Sears.

He said that someone spilled a cup of coffee on it and it wouldn't work.

Good luck on this repair of a coffee stained keyboard.

Some of the keys work and a few just dont ....I am not sure if the keys are broken....stuck or if my laptop has been dropped or something. It's just not working right

Did someone (not you, of course) spill something (sugar in coffee, tea, cocoa, soft-drink, beer) onto the keyboard? If so, as the liquid dries, the sugar dries up, and gums-up the works.

Get a qualified technician to replace the keyboard.

A cup of coffee spills in the keyboard of my laptop, now coffee is dry out but the keys are stuck

I'm sorry but the keyboard has to be replaced. The new keyboards us a chemical contact and the hot coffee has damaged the chemical.

Due to sugary spill, 4 keys not working on keyboard

Hello,

Simply stated, yes.

If you plan to do that, in the meantime you could also run the keyboard under a warm shower for a new minutes and then hang it out to dry in the sun. I'm not kidding. It will probably, that is probably, work just fine after that so long as all the water has dried and drained out and its not an IBM mechanical keyboard.

Acer Aspire 5610 - one key does not work

Laptop keyboard are semi-sealed circuit boards. This means that liquid can get into the contacts and can not be cleaned. Depending on how much liquid was spilled on the keyboard chances are that the liquid has seeped around the edges of the keyboard and down onto the mainboard of the laptop. My first suggestion would be to keep the laptop turned off until you can remove the keyboard and check for liquid damage to the mainboard. If there is no damage to the mainboard I would suggest buying a new keyboard before turning the computer back on as any shorts caused by the liquid damage on the keyboard can cause damage to the keyboard controller circuit on the mainboard.
