Question about Acer Aspire 5630 Notebook

Usb problem Mr Wiz, recently i have developed a problem with my usb port.it doesnt seem to recognise any pendrive.but it recognises ipod drives and other devices that use usb but charge it self.but the situation is when it recognises those devices it seems to use their power to work so by the time you finished copying some from the drive it undect the drive.meaning it uses the drives power. to my opinion i thought it was a driver problem but i was wrong since i checked the device maneger and it seem to be working, i tried uninstalling the usb drivers nd automatically the drive updated it self.pls wiz what do,I am really worried.

Often this is an electrostatic charge problem on usb hub.
To solve it:
On PC disconnect power cable for 30 mins or so from power outlet.
On laptop, disconnect from power and remove latop battery for 15 mins or so.
If it still does not work, then it may be faulty root hub on motherboard.

My HP DV9740Us entertainment laptop will only recognize one external hard drive at a time! If i plug in another via usb it won't pick it up in My computer but the computer makes the sound as if it did...

If these drives are internally powered by the USB hub, two devices will not be recognised. ie: you can have as many pendrives as you like and they will be seen, because they draw little power from the hub, however, a larger external hard drive requires more power (some of these in fact have two usb connectors to power them). which is why your laptop will only recognise one drive at a time:

Solution: If you can get an externally powered usb drive, this should work.Another and possibly cheaper way would be to get an externally powered USB hub, which would solve the problem

I have 500GB transcend Portabale hard drive but not working, need installation driver or some thing other ?

External hard drives connected to the USB port do not require any additional drivers for WIN XP, Vista or Win 7. If it is not being recognised at all then the USB converter inside the box is faulty. If the PC recognises the USB converter but not the hard drive then the hard drive may be faulty.

Transcend usb v30 2gb not working .. usb recognised..?

Try connecting USB drive on some other systems if it is being detected by them there is something wrong in your system else the usb drive is damaged.

When you attach the usb drive, after that right click on my computer icon and click Manage option. After that under Manage console select Disk Management, look for removable drives (that is your usb drive) under it and then format it. It will be formatted. If that also does not work then probably some of the windows files is corrupted and you need to either repair your windows or reinstall it.

Thanks !!

Ibm x22 doesnt recognise external DVD drive, keeps messaging saying could go faster on USB 2 port, but thats it

Did you check in the bios if your USB ports are configured as USB 2? That could fix it.
If not possible, try uninstalling the USB Root Hub devices in the device manager, that can fix some USB problems.

I want USB port Driver for detect

No mention of Brand of Pen Drive so I would start there first.

Try www.pendrive.com

Also no mention of when the latest updates were done ,hmmm

Normally should auto recognise when plugged in

(should do anyway)

When you install usb drive,

and drive does not appear be present,

SOLUTION...............................................................

Assuming your using XP,

go to start

then my computer,

right click,manage,

disk management,

This will put you in the area where you can check the health and activitys of your hard drives,

If this drive was recognised in the port then it will be visable in this area,

here you can right click on the drive and update the individual drivers of each device that may have issues.

So go ahead right click and update the drivers,

click I have disk on the wizard prompt and let the wizard search for the correct drivers,

if it comes back saying please insert cd then let the wizard search the internet for the correct drivers.

If this does not fix the problem then a Factory Default Reinstall will fix this.

If the issue still remains after these steps its the motherboard replacement time.

BACK UP BEFORE FORMATTING.......

I am confused that my laptop is damaged

First of all, we are NOT hackers. Don't know where you got that idea, but I myself find it rather repulsive. The problem may lie in the fact your computer may be mapping your USB PenDrive the same as another drive on your computer, making it inaccessable. Now, I requested more information so that I could better assist, but you failed to provide what I asked for. To find out if your computer is dual-mapping a drive letter, you need to access Control Panels -> Adminstrative Tools -> Computer Management, and select the Disk Management at the bottom. You should be able to find the PenDrive in the Bottom Right pane, right click it, select 'Chage Drive Letter' and select an unused drive letter (perhaps M:). If that is the problem, that right there will fix it for you.

Try not to insult people next time.
