Question about PC Chips (M925G) Motherboard
I want to coneect a metereological data receiver unit with a pc which is 1km away from the receiver.the output of the receiver unit is cat 5(RJ45).
now the interconnecting cable i have to use is a phone cable(2 wire twisted pair).
can this connection be made using a ADSL modem.
if yes what are the configuration for the modemthat i have to make.
There are easier ways of doing this. If you simply want to extend the length of the Cat 5-e cable they make simple connectors which do so. You must make sure the cable is a STRAIGHT SHOT cable and not a crossover cable though. A wire tester would work to look at the configuration but you can look very closely to the color coordination inside the connector and figure out which configuration the cable is. If the colors are int he same order on both sides then you have a straight shot cable.

Tips for a great answer:
test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive,
the leads from your (motherboard to your hard drive) make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not been burnt
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure dust free connections and have not been burnt
even something as small as an electrical extension or a faulty fan lead can cause this problem computers need power and data to travel through every working device and to have an end for a computer to be able work
check the CPU central processing unit has a dust free secure seating and has thermal paste
check the ram modules have a secure dust free seating
check your computer ram and cmos battery to make sure they have dust free secure seatings and the battery has plenty of charge
some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in
hope this helps

motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail
check all power and data leads make sure they have secure dust free connections
cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working
