Dc40 back wheels keep engaging

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC40's stabiliser assembly is engineered to retract automatically when you lower the machine into the vacuuming position. When you stand the vacuum upright after use, the wheels will extend and lock into place to support the machine. You'll hear a click as the machine locks upright. This is shown in the image below.

I'm not quite sure from the details you've provided when you feel the wheels seem to be engaging incorrectly, but I would encourage you to get in touch with our experts directly so we can take some further details.

You can reach us by calling the Dyson customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1800 239 766 (AU).

My dyson dc25 won't lock in the upright position

The DC25 Animal has a design flaw where part of the Duct Assembly (main part of the vacuum) where the Red lock bar goes over breaks off the Duct Assembly and it causes the DC25 to not be able to stand up normally. There is a short Youtube video describing this flaw.

Unfortunately, you can repair this except by replacing the entire duct assembly.

Black part connecting the drop down foot i do not know how to put it back in please help!! thanks

Hi,

Try this quick repair and see if this fixes your Dyson in terms of not going in the upright position: This is a frequent problem that we see come in on Dysons. If this doesn't fix it, please feel free to just use the clarification request and let me know this didn't fix it.

Step 1.
Turn power off and unplug the machine.
Tilt the machine backward to a 45° angle.

Step 2.
  • Hold the section under the airway inspection pipe.
  • The black forward lock button must be held down simultaneously, otherwise the valve carriage will not move.
  • Pivot this section upwards until it clicks into place.
  • Release the black button once the valve pipe carriage is moved up into place.

    Step 3.

    • Tilt the machine forward.
    • The cleaner head should now slide underneath the part you have just clicked into place.
    • The machine should now stand upright.

Placing the handle of my Dyson DC07 into its upright and locked position causes the beater bar to stop turning. It will not start turning until the handle is first lowered to the working position and the...

    Hi its Darran at Dyson.

The brush control is designed to switch the brush bar off automatically when you stand the machine back into the upright position. It is designed this way to protect any delicate floor surfaces when you have the machine switched on and upright and when you are using the hose.

If the brush control should be in the centre position and move forward to the "on" position when you release the head. If it is not doing this, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Dyson dc07 will not lock into upright position

    - Stand behind the vacuum cleaner and look at the right-hand side wheel
    - Remove the AI PIPE (it has two purple buttons that you push together to lift it up and out - it looks like a Tuba)
    - Lay the handle down and look for a black button that will be exposed in front of the square hole
    - Stick your index finger and middle finger into the vacant AI Pipe Hole (the square hole)
    - Reach over with your thumb and press the black button in front of the square hole
    - Whilst pushing the black button, lift your index finger and your middle finger and move the gray plastic piece up (lift the square hole basically)
    - Remove your fingers from the square hole
    - Lift the handle and stand your machine back upright again
    - Place the AI Pipe back into the square hole

Bottom roller bush does not spin

Sounds as if the v-belt came off the idler arm or you broke the v-belt. Either way, take the 4 screws out of the plate around the roller brush and make certain the belt is there and that it sits on the idler wheel. If you remove the roller brush you'll see the wheel. Pay attention to how the ends of the roller brush go back into the vacuum when inserting it and put the plate back on. Also check the thicker main belt is in place as well, it's to the left of the v-belt.

Also, the roller brush should stop when you put it in the upright position. Next time just stand it upright so the throw rug doesn't get drawn quite so far into the vacuum.
