Check all filters. Some of the newer vacuum cleaners have up to 3 filters that need to be cleaned and or replaced. Motor filter, Hepa Filter, and or Air Filter.
Make sure there isn't any clogs in any part of the hoses and or tubes.

Other than that... pretty basic. Motor sucks air through the filter, then through the hoses.
Good luck.
Hope this helps.

I have a Kirby Ultimate G Diamond Series upright. When I plug it in it will not come on. Bought new in 2004.

First make sure the hose or nozzle is installed properly so the switch lever is pushed in all the way. Then check the bag emptor to make sure it is pushed all the way in to engage the switch lever. Both of those are safety features so your machine will not run if they are not properly engaged. If they are correct then check your power cord to make sure it is working properly.

Roller assembly will not go back together

Usually belts do not come off unless something is worn. If your
Riccar is used heavily or is over 5-10 old (depending on use) it may have a worn pivot point or motor mount. Both are inexpensive parts that will wear after years of use. If your belt is over 6-12 months old it may have lost elasticity. The brush roll end cap must be installed in the proper position and the clutch activation lever must be installed properly to work properly. You have a very durable long lasting vacuum but it does need occasional service to work properly. It may save money in the long run to have it serviced by your dealer if it's been a while.

Our vacuum cleaner is not getting proper suction and not collecting anything in the proper place. Why am I having this problem?

Have you checked to see if the belt is broken, or perhaps just stretched out to the point its not properly spinning the brushroller underneath the head of the unit?

The lid not closing properly is almost certainly the cause of your problem. Without that lid sealed tight to the body you will get no suction through the hose. So, the question is: why isn't the lid clipping down properly? Did you just change the bag? You need to check that the bag is properly located and that there's nothing getting caught where it shouldn't be. Get the lid closing properly and your problem should be solved. Good luck!

My hoover steam vac

OKay! I've figured it out! After making sure I had the cleaning solution container connected properly, the "lint filter" thingy clear, the attachment plug thingy unplugged, the filter in it's proper position, (about a cm down from the seal), and the seal on the filter was all good, etc etc etc, the brushes in properly...I was about to drive over this steam cleaner with my car!

After taking a break and going back to it, I discovered that I didn't have the lid to my dirty water tank (or air tank, as I was starting to call it) properly closed. There are two lips that you have to make sure the lid "hinges" from, and THEN snap the lid shut. This made a seal that allowed this steam cleaner to **** up all kinds of gooey gunk from my carpets! The brushes work, the suction works, it's a FABULOUS machine! It doesn't get any louder when it's sucking up water, either.

All this AND I had the instructions! Go figure!
