HP Deskjet 6540
My printer had a paper jam this morning so I removed the lid on the back, took out the paper and put the lid back on.
Then the red arrow was flashing so I though the black ink was out since it wouldnt print and I knew the cartridge was low. I changed the ink with a new one.
Now the top light is flashing along with the red arrow and when I press the red arrow, it tries to engage but the carriage hits against the right hand side of the printer doesn nothing more.

if the lights are flashing along together there is a cariage stall. The ink cartridge craddle is hitting something. Find out what and remove it if doesn't belong there. First of all remove and reinsert both cartridges. One of them may be inserted wrong.
