Problem with new D90 and old Nikkor 18-200 VR lens
I upgrade my D70 to a D90 last week, but kept my old 18-200 VR lens, which I loved on my D70. Now I am having problems getting in-focus pictures when VR is switched on with this lens on the D90, with the blurring and double lines (ghosting kind of effect) in both low light and day light, with settings tried ranging from 1/15-1/30 at F5.6 and 1/60 and f16 (in daylight). I also hear a very loud clicking after I depress the shutter and can see the movement of the image in the viewfinder - these problems ONLY happen on the new D90. With used with my old D70 everything is still fine. Is this is a problem with camera settings I need to use on the D90, or is the D90 defective? I also notice horrible battery performance on the D90 (after a full charge, I get 60-70 pictures before the battery is down to 20% or less). I have used the camera for testing so far for 3 days; I loved the D70 from Day 1, but am not sure if I should return the D90. Thanks!

If lens continues to work in your D90, then the issue is with your D7000 camera. U might want to contact Nikon to see if there is some sort of reset available for the electronics.
Also make sure that lens contacts are clean and free of dirt, etc.
This lens lacks the autofocus motor, so it will only autofocus on cameras with the motor. This lens will autofocus on every Nikon digital SLR except for the D40, D40x, D60, D3000, D3100, D5000, and D5100. It will autofocus with the D1 family, D2 family, D3 family, D50, D70, D70s, D80, D90, D100, D200, D300, D300s, and D700 (I hope I haven't left any out).
Make sure you set the aperture ring on the lens to its smallest setting (largest f/number) and lock it. Without doing so, the lens will not communicate properly with the camera and thus you will not get the autofocusing.
Your motor may have gone bad. Try sending it to PhotoTech Repair Service in NYC. They are Nikon authorized, and can do the repair under warranty if you still have it. Also if you join they're facebook page, they will give you a 10% discount.

Sounds like the shutter is sticking. This could be due to damage or just need cleaning. This probably means that you need to get the camera professionally serviced/fixed as shutters are extremely delicate.
