Question about Mitsubishi WS-48413 48" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

What happens have a Mitsubishi ws-65857 that I just bought used about 2.5 weeks ago. It has been working brilliantly with perfect picture. Now today I fell asleep on the couch, I don't know if I turned the TV off or if it turned itself off while I was out. But now whenever I hit power on the remote or at the TV is makes that sound that all tv's make when juice first starts running through them and then just cuts out all together after 1-2 seconds. Shortly after that the green LED on the front flashes three times. Any ideas what this is or what triggered it or what my next step is? Thanks for any and all help

Hey Slinte, I read your post and I appreciate it. The first thing I did
was go check on the blinks. I watched about 5 more times and I can't
see any kind of break or delay between blinks. It just powers down as
if you had pulled the plug on it and then pauses for 3-5 seconds and
then does three rapid, evenly spaced blinks. If you have any other
thoughts on it or if you have a digital copy of the manual and think it
might help me please let me know on this page or by my E-mail
    liquidrabbit@hotmail.com Thanks.

You have the V17+ chassis. The error code blinks a 2 digit code. So yours is either blinking a 12 for no error or a 21 for xray protect shutdown. Count the blinks carefull. it should blink a number pause then blink the second number. You will no doubt need the service manual. I have a good source for mitsubishi service manuals. Let me know if youd like more info and let me know what you discover with the blinking Led.

WELL YOUR LIQUID SPILL MAY HAVE BURNT FOIL PATHS OR EATEN UP SOME OTHER SOLDER JOINTS. A CLOSER INSPECTION ON THE AREA INVOLVED SHOULD SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS.

Problem w/ Mitsubishi WS-65869After losing power

I found this answer and I believe it fits your problem perfectly.
Your TV has two microprocessors that depend on each other for communication. The problem is that a power glitch gets them out of sync. Try this:
1. Press the power button and wait for the blinking light to stop.
.
2. Press all the front panel buttons one at a time, except for the reset, and power button.
This will send a command to one processor and sets an interrupt.

3. Hit the power button, and the TV should power up.

4. Set the TV to low energy mode(see TV manual to find out how to do this. Doing this step will help prevent the problem from coming back. These instructions were taken from a Mitsubishi service manual.

code 12 indicates no fault. tv probably needs the high voltage board rebuilt, have a shop do it. Maybe you need to check all the connections.

Mitsubishi WS 65857 Picture problem.

Mitsubishi's have been known to "burn in" when you have a stationary image on the screen for too long. Usually its not a problem but in some cases I've seen..if its hours and hours of game play..or even places like home shopping network that have phone numbers that never move during the broadcast...it can cause the image to burn the screen.

The projection tubes would not be burned...it would be the mirror viewing screen.
