Question about Jenn-Air Kitchen Ranges

Open Question

Jenn Air stove control panel

We replaced the clock on our Jenn Ari model SVD48600W and when we had it all back together the key pad on the control panel on the left side none of those touch pad buttons worked, bake, broil, convection, or clean. THe fan works and the timer, etc ont the right side of the control panel. Do we need to replace the entire control panel?

SOURCE: Jenn-Air JDS8850BDS control panel malfunction

You need a new control board. I bought similar range in 2004 and I just got my 3rd control board. Heating the oven over 400 degrees and using the self-clean function kills the board.

SOURCE: My stove is not allowing to bake. The broil works

It would appear that the electric ignitor isn't functioning as it should and might need to be replaced.

You can remove the oven racks and the bottom oven floor to observe the ignitor. now turn the oven on and see if the ignitor glows, if not, the ignitor is faulty and needs to be replaced.

You can enter in your full model number at the following site and get the replacement part number (and price). If you're going to do the repair yourself, be sure to turn off the power or unplug the range from the power outlet before doing any work on it.

You'll need to pull the oven out so you can get at the backside panel where the electrical connections are located. There is also a screw on the inside of the oven that holds the lower iginitor in place. Simply remove and replace the faulty one with the new one and you should be fine.

If you want to confirm that the ignitor is the only issue, you can swap out the broiler ignitor with the oven (lower) ignitor, as they should be the same part for your range. If you swap them and the oven doesn't ignite, then the faulty part is probably either thermocouple that tells the gas inlet valve control, which lets gas enter into the oven. The thermocouple which tells the gas valve to open, once the ignitor has reached the proper temperature, so if the thermocouple isn't working, the gas valve won't open.

Here's a link that you can enter in your model number and get the parts list and a line drawing for your range. I think you're missing a few letters or numbers in your model#.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=JGBP90
My bet is on the ignitor as the faulty part, but the swap test will confirm that, and if the swap doesn't work, then the thermocouple is bad.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

SOURCE: Oven will not heat

Heating elements are protected by a fusable link that is a one time fuse that is meant to protect the stove from overheating. It sounds like the elements need to be replaced

I have Model #JER8750AAB Serial#16776012WK When uising the self cleaning feature, oven stopped and F1 displayed on stove ??

  1. Disconnect power to stove
  2. Gain access to the back of the clock (electronic range control or ERC).
  3. Unplug the touch pad ribbon connector from the ERC. This will be a flat wire approx. 1 1/2" to 2" wide.
  4. Make sure everything is clear and will not short out when power is turned back on.
  5. Turn power back on to stove.
  6. Watch for the F1 and listen for the beep.
  7. If you get the F1 and beep, replace the ERC.
  8. If after approx. 30 minutes you do NOT get the F1 and hear the beep, replace the touch pad.

I would recommend putting 'surge protection' on the house breaker panel. I would suspect that you are getting power bumps that kill the EOC. Do you have power outage and lightning?
metertreater.com has some good stuff. Have an electricaina install it at the meter. Or you can put it right in the main panel yourself if you know how.

F 1 code after using Jenn-Aire electric oven

F1 Defective touch pad or clock (ERC) Replace touch pad or clock (ERC). Touch pad is a more common problem. This simple test will help determine whether the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad is defective when F1 error code is present.

Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC as a single assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC (Clock).

Warning: If you feel in any way uncomfortable performing this test or making this repair, please contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

1. Disconnect power to the range (unplug the range power cord or turn the power off to the range at the circuit breaker). It is very important that the power to the range has been disconnected, so please double check before continuing.
2. Gain access inside the control panel.
3. Disconnect the touch pad (also called keypad or membrane switch) ribbon from the ERC.
4. Make sure there are no lose wires, or anything else that may cause a short when power is turned back on. Assemble the control panel back the way it was.
5. Turn the power back on.
6. Wait for at least one hour to see if the F1 code comes back (usually accompanied by a beeping sound).
7. If F1 comes back, replace the ERC. If it does not, replace the touch pad.

Jenn Air Range SVD48600W (Circa 1998?)

ja_question.gif Why are the oven indicator lights flashing? Answer: When power is first supplied to the appliance, a flashing time will appear on the display.
If a flashing time appears at any other time, a power failure has occurred. Press Cancel, and reset the clock if needed.
When the oven is not in use, the display shows the time of day.
If the indicator lights keep flashing after you have tried to reset the controls, then you may need to contact service person.

This is from the Jenn-Air website.

F7 Code and stove beeps

F7 Function key shorted or stuck button Replace touch pad or clock assembly (also called the ERC) or attempt to un-stick button F7 Shorted key sensed for 32 seconds 1. Membrane shorted, or,
2.
Display board defectiveIf touch pad is a separate unit then unplug it and see if code comes back.  Unplug range before doing so.  Once touch pad is disconnected, plug range back in and see if code shows.  Wait a few minutes.  If no code then replace touch pad.  If code does come on while touch pad is disconnected then replace main control.  If touch pad and main control are all one part then replace the whole control.  Doubt if you would have any luck trying to unstick the bad button as stated above.
