Question about HP Compaq Evo Notebook N600c
When i jiggle the power cord, it flickers...but wont come on anymore. what is the problem the cord or the socket. can i change out the socket. i noticed when looking at used evo's that this section is damaged sometimes.
Hi, your problem is the DC socket Plug on the motherboard. This is a solution 5$ (for the plug only) and soldering iron and solder. If it is within warranty give it straight away for repair at their cost. THIS IS a VERY common problem to HP laptops. Dont Accept anything other than a full repair. (requires dissasembly of the plastics to expose the connector and be able to resolder it.)
If it is out of warranty then find the plug, and DIY or engineer friends may be in order :) If you send it to 3rd partie tech shops they may charge 100-150$ for a 5$ spare part..the rest is their time spent and many six packs.
