Does your camera have a removable memory card? (SD card,
SecureDigital, CompactFlash, etc). If so, you can get a card reader at
an office supply or computer store for 10 or 15 bucks that will plug
into your computer's USB port. I bought one for ~$13 at office max
that will read just about every digital camera memory type known to man.
Using software like Google's Picasa (www.picasa.com) on Windows or iPhoto for
Macintosh makes importing photos from memory cards this way a breeze.

If you connect the camera with the lead and turn it on, your computer should just recognise the camera as a storage drive, and you should be able to drag and drop the photo's from it.
If it is not able to do this, try downloading the relevant driver from the manufacturers website.
My camera was showing lens error 12&25 and then shutting off. I tried gently trying to twist and pull the furthest out part of the lens and it popped back into place easily. It made a noise when it did this, and then i turned the camera off, and the lens went back in!! Completely fixed now!!
Well maybe I can solve this..... My lens would not retract and showed two error messages. Tried a number of tricks that have been recommended on this site to no avail. Ultimately what worked for me was pushing quite hard on the barrel of the lens trying to force it back in ( yeah i know, sounds extreme but did'n't think it could make the situation any worse ). The lens remained in the locked out position not moving in spite of the fact that I pushed it fairly hard. When I turned it on the lens retracted and it appears to be fully recovered from whatever was ailing it. Hope this works for you.
