Hello!

You know Michael, Once your computer freeze this causes is these.
1. Present of virus in the system
2. Hard drive damage
3. Memory mismatch

..solution:

1. be sure to scan with a potent antivirus if not work, format reinstall the windows
2. If you do number one and still freeze then verify the memory and the hard drive.

In your case the problem started when you insert memory i guess it was mismatch memory.

guidelines for memory:

Do not use two different capacity memory in the computer.
it should be thesame manufacture date if possible and should be thesame model and sizes and it should be identical to each other.
You should get the correct Specification of your memory. example DDR 400,

You computer battery is only is less than US$ i think its very cheap. but he troubleshoot and he replace the hardrive i don't know if that is the case. PCU or CPU ..when computer still boot there is no problems with this. memory computer will not boot if memory is damage.

Hard drive, Less than 2,500.00 pesos 80 GB

I will suggest you to get all the parts that said damage and bring it your home and consult another computer tech. If you wish to know how to troubleshoot your computer i will teach you.
step by step troubleshooting. melnavz

What would cause a Dell Inspiron 580 that powers on but display nothing on the screen?

Some types of memory will only work as matched pairs, try only using two sticks of the same type, Otherwise check your memory and graphics card are seated properly, remove the power cable to the monitor for a few minutes then plug in, check you haven't loosened the monitor cable. Do you get anything onscreen? if you get start up then check BIOS see what memory it reports & the graphics settings. Its most likely something loose or the memory.

hi

memory dump is the result of bad memory module (RAM).. remove the ram modules, look at them, make sure they are same make and part. different manufactures can often cause memory fault in a system

if that's the case, replace the memory modules . you can go to the link below and select the model you have, go to KEYWORD selection, and select MEMORY DIMM, it will then give you the part number you need to replace .

if you need more help, please don't hesitate to issue 4 thumbs and i will give you further details and cost of the modules. you can easily purchase at a link i will issue at that time.

No video displayed after updating bios

Yes, it is true and common. Anytime you update bios, also find the method for resetting/undoing the bios update.
go to the mobo mfg website and find how to reset the bios. This usually involves removing the battery, and jumpering the reset.
The reset may not reset/undo the update, but simply reset the bios to defaults.
Depending on the bios type the restore may vary.

Oil light flashing, last oil change 7 wks ago

I belive they didn't reset the oil light timer. I belive the sequence is 1. key on (not acc with engine off)
2. step on the brake pedal 5 times within 10 seconds. 3. key off. 4. start car. 5. check if the light went out. you may have to try it a few times to get it.
