Whirlpool Compact Washer won't come on

Hi,

I have a three year old compact washer that was installed permanently a year and a half ago and was working great. On Saturday I was doing laundry and the washer would not turn on. I pushed the buttons repeatedly and after a minute it came on and washed that load fine. The next load I put in it would not come on so I gave up for awhile and later I tried pushing the buttons and opening and closing the lid several time. It came on and started the cycle fine and when it came to the rinse cycle it filled part way and stopped and will not start again. The cycle light is flashing, but the washer will not do anything. I had to wring the clothes out by hand and I cannot get the washer to come on to drain. I checked both ends of the hose that is hooked up to the water and they are clear. Any idea what is wrong?

My portable/compact Whirlpool washer drains, but won't spin water out

Check on Youtube for removal of the pump clips and motor clips. It really only takes a flat screw driver for each clip and a 1/4 socket too for the motor clips, as you tilt the machine back to get at the parts.

Washer will wash but won't spin after wash to finish load

Does the water drain after it finishes the wash before the spin is supposed to start? If yes then it can be that the timer is faulty or the spin windings in the motor have burnt out.Does the pump work at all when this has happened, or is the machine completely dead?Let me know please.I also need to know whether it's a digitaly controlled machine or works with a mechanical switch.

I agree, it is most likely a timer problem. Possibly "rust" build-up.

See the Whirlpool / Kenmore Service manual for top load, direct drive washer for troubleshooting and diagnostics procedures.

Whirlpool wshser-dryer: water won't drain, cycles won't start

You need to give more info in order for a diagnosis. Is this a compact stack unit or an all -in -one unit or an interconnected washer/dryer pair ? Is it front load or top load washer ? What do you mean by "dry cycle"? Is that dryer cycle or is it washer cycle without water ?
Usually when water cannot be drained it is a bad coupling connector on the motor drive, or a bad or clogged pump (small socks have been known to get sucked in an lodged in the pumps); in either case you need a good mechanic or a service person to handle the repair because it requires opening up the shell of the unit and getting to the motor/pump assembly. As always, disconnect the power cord before diving into the unit. Good Luck, Macgivor.

This worked for me. I turned off the washer and hit the area on the washer directly to the right of the door handle (not hard enough to break something or cause a dent). It popped right open.

WHIRLPOOL ULTIMATE CARE II MAKES YELLOW BROWN STAINS ON LIGHT COLOR CLOTHES

Grease will not come from the interior of the washer, as the machine ages build up deposits under the basket and it is oily, greasy and full of mildew. If can get a spanner wrench from a appliance parts house and remove the basket you will see on machines older than three years a build up starting. I pulled 15 lbs from a 25 year old machine and I had to go get sick outside, it was bad.
