It probably has to do with a setting in your menu. Usually it is the antenna category. Change it to Cable or CATV.

I have connected the tv to cableand I can only recieve channels 2,4,5,9 & 13. How do I set up the tv to receive the remainder of the channels? Thank you

do a channle auto scan, you need to select CATV in order to scan for cable channels. after the scanning process, all the channels you can get should be on your set.

Can not get tv to reach channels from 2 to 70

Sounds like you need a set-top box from the cable company.  You hook that up to your TV, tune the TV to Channel 3 or 4, and use the set-top box to tune in all the channels.

Making the TV VHF plus UHF cable ready

If your tv tuner on vhf only goes to channel 13 you will not recieve uhf channels if you are hooked to cable tv. You can do a search for mid band to uhf converters (converts uhf to vhf).We used to use them in the early 80's. Even if you can find one it will only go to channel 22.

Getting the speakers to work with the TV

Yupp(depending on how old your stuff is) I will assume your using cable and using your tv to switch the channels. Look at the back of your tv there should be a audio output, plug some RCAs (red, and white) into the designated spot and now look on the back of your reciever, it should have a tv input, if not just a input. After that is done turn on the tv and put the reciever on the channel that you plugged it in. For example if you plugged the rcas into Tv input...then you would set the reciever to TV
