Question about Xerox 8200/DP Thermal Printer

Print head error? (13.004.43)

Can you tell me if this is only going to be fixed by a print head replacement?  Thanks.  I got this at an auction and I have changed the halogen lamps.  Hope you can help me. Cheers, Mark

Thanks for your update.  Ventilation check OK.  I am pretty sure the ink was Tektronix/Xerox stock (is there any way to tell from extra ink blocks that are in the feeder?
I will try the troubleshooting listed.  Is there a recommended way to get hardened wax/ink off the little trays in the print head?  The left "tub" is clogged (indicates the left jet stack diagnosis) but I can't see how to clear it without damaging parts.  Thanks, Mark

Don't worry about the ink sticks your using. Really would be unusual for that to be a problem.
What the issue is, is the left side of the print head itself is not warming or sensing that it is warming.
I would first of all try, this. You have to remove both the left and right covers, then the ink loader. ( Where the sticks are). Under that is the print head area. What is used are ribbon cables that are simply pressed into stampons for connectors. I would try reseating the cables to the print head. Sadly though, the most likely problem is that the heating element inside the print head had opened and is not heating. That needs to heat to keep the ink melted.
Sometimes you can find good used print heads on E-bay.
I wouldn't bother removing the hardened ink. That is only in the jet tub because the heater stopped working while it was full and solidified while it was full.
Reading you may have already reseated the connectors.
I honestly would think that it is extremely likely the print head has failed. Wish I could offer you more hope of a cheap repair.
The printers that actually make the highest quality color copy are the emulsion toners. Somehow they learned how to align the particles of toner, and at 2400 x 2400 resolution they are incredible. And less than 1000 dollars.
Not exactly sure why I mentioned that LOL. But they have really impressed me for quality of a dry ink printer ....

I forgot to mention. in the menu under trouble shooting, there is a service diagnostic area you can enter and monitor the print head heaters and see which ones are and are not working.
Once you enter the diagnostic mode, you have to scroll to fine the heater monitor area.
I was going to mention that earlier but simply forgot.

How can I fix no cartridge error on brother mfc-465cn

It sounds like it may actually be the "print head" which is what the carts fit into. These can and will go bad. Sometimes you can find replacements on ebay etc. But you need to make sure it is exactly the same part number. There could also be a number of other issues, the cart contacts could be dirty or damaged (another print head issue resolved by replacing), counterfeit cartridge, bad cart. These are the most common, but not the ONLY issues that can cause your problems. I'd check prices for replacement print head vs. new printer.

I am getting an error telling me to replace all 4 print heads. I thought it was odd that all 4 would go out at the same time. Should i replace all 4 print heads or is the problem something else? Maybe

This is general problem in hp plotters..
understand the concept: If U R replaced any one of print head in good working printer, printer detects new print head & it will try to align it with others. Printer will print align page to read, while reading if its found any other print heads are poor quality or bad condition, it will say to replace them also.. Some times it may 2,3 or all.
If UR printer is trying to printing align page and reading it, definitely it will detects & displays the faulty /poor quality print heads. U have to replace it..
If UR feels its expensive, try to clean the print heads manually & try for UR luck...

Pop up keeps telling me that I have to insert print heads???? new ink cartridges and still tells me about no print heads. Can I fix it or chuck it? Thanks, Dave.

The print heads are located right underneith the ink cartridges. there is usually a plastic flip down lever that you snap open and reveals the print heads. They look like little bottles with sponge tops on them. They are about 1/3 the size of the ink cartridges. They remove easily. Most of the time when the printer starts showing messages about the print heads, it means that ink has leaked out in that area. Its easy to fix that problem.

Turn off the printer and press and hold the power button for sixty seconds, then Remove the ink cartridges, snap open the plastic piece to show the print heads and then take a link free cloth or paper towel and soak up any visible ink. Then remove the print heads and look for metal connectors on back like the ink cartridges have and use a wet qtip to remove any ink that has dried or hardened there. After you have cleaned and removed and visible ink, try putting them back in and install the ink cartridges. then plug it back in and turn it on to see if the error is gone. If not, you can replace the print heads but I am unsure of the price of replacements? They might cost as much as a new printer depending on the price of your model?

Is it possible that someone has removed your print heads?

That is the code when the Print head is not pivoting back and forth.
In order here are the most likely problems.
1. On the right hand frame there is a staineless steel pivot block, about one inch square that the print head shaft runs through. Some, and most likely Yellow ink has seeped into that pivot block not allowing the head to move freely.
2. One of the cables that are attached to the print head are caught on some item holding the print head back.
3. The mahine was unplugged or lost power with the wiper blade tacked to the print head, jamming it between the print head and drum.
That code is telling you that the print head is not pivoting beween the home and operating position.
Very common. Also very very unlikely the print head has been damaged or defective.
