Trying to update my Iphone 4s and it tells me that i'm already updated with the current ios 7.1.2 how do i get updated to a newer version???

I believe 7.x is the end of the updates for the 4s. Pretty sure you can jailbreak 7.x, search for an article about it.

How to save SHSH blobs of your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad

One of the most important things that you need to do before trying to update, whether using custom or official IPSW, is to save your iDevice's SHSH blobs on Cydia's server. You should do it every time Apple releases new iOS update. That way, you are ensuring that you will be able to go back to the previous iOS version you have before updating (even if Apple stopped signing that version) and re-do the jailbreak for your iDevice. You can also downgrade to the oldest iOS version possible (e.g. from 4.1 to 3.1.2 on a 3GS) as long as you saved its SHSH on Cydia.

To save your iDevice's SHSH blobs, you need TinyUmbrella (TU):
For PC (Windows)
For Mac

NOTE: Download links above are for TU v4.30.05. If TU prompts you of a new version available, please update it first.

  1. Install TU then run after install kid_ant_3.pngkid_ant_1.pngkid_ant_2.pngClick on image to view larger... kid_ant_3.png
  2. Connect your iDevice to the computer and click Save SHSHkid_ant_3.png
  3. Wait until you see your current iOS version under the Saved SHSHs list.
Close TU after that and you're done! It's that easy. There's really no trick in doing it.

Go to Log (after General, refer to image above) to verify that Cydia has the SHSH blob for your current iOS version. It should look like this:kid_ant_3.pngkid_ant_11.png

Click on image to view larger...

The ones written in green means Cydia now has your SHSH. Those in red means bad news, you're late for saving your SHSH. That's why I said on the first part of this tip that you should do this every time Apple releases new iOS updates.

If all goes well, you're now ready to update, restore, jailbreak and unlock!

Why am i getting error (4013) when i try to restore my iphone

The first thing you try should be change the USB port to which you connect the iPhone. Next up, change the cable that you use. Arguably, this has worked not for everyone but for a few people.
As an extreme measure, you can also try updating from some other computer which has the latest iTunes installed.
Backing Up and Going Into Recovery Mode
If you are trying to update the firmware without doing a clean restore but running into this error (even after changing the cables), it's time to cut the chase. This method is usually recommended as the last-thing-to-try but I think it's easier to get this done with right away.
  • Connect your iPhone to the computer. Fire up iTunes.
  • Backup your iPhone.
  • Now disconnect the iPhone, quit iTunes.
  • Put the iPhone in recovery mode. The short version goes like this: press and hold power and home buttons till the screen goes blank.
  • Open iTunes on PC.
  • Connect the iPhone. iTunes should indicate (through a dialog box) that an iPhone is detected in recovery mode.
  • Now go ahead and restore the device as new. This will erase everything but you will have the backup to restore from.
Some Notes
  • Occasionally, the error seems to vanish when people update to the last iOS 6.x version and then update to iOS 7. (This applies when you are on iOS 6.0, 6.1).
  • Clear out apps and app memory to free up space on your iPhone. Although this sounds very unrelated to this error, it has helped.

I have read all the msg boards and am still not able to sync my iphone 3gs to outlook. does it have anthing to do with running Vista? I used to work then notice that it changed

Vista shouldn't have anything to do with it, unless your using a 3rd party software to connect it.
First thing, Update iphone to latest version.
Update outlook 2007 using windows update.
The resent update to the iphone firmware and itunes fixed the problemof things not moving from iphone back to outlook.
BEFORE the fix for the iphone , to get an event to show up back in outlook , you would need to make it a recurring event on the iphone starting and ending on the one day ...
to test if thts the problem you have , make a new calendar event in your phone and make it recurring, starting and ending on the same day.
sync, then check outlook.
Before this update to get things working I needed to do the following...
1) backup your outlook .PST file. 2) rename and move the existing pst file, and create a new one.. 3)import the contacts 4) import calender events, (not recurring ones) 5)sync.
BEFORE the fix for the iphone , to get an event to show up back in outlook , you would need to make it a recurring event on the iphone starting and ending on the one day ...

two questions:
1. Do you use Mac or PC??
2. What version is your Iphone on now? 2.2?

Dont worry as of today ANY iphone on ANY version can be unlocked.

Im pretty sure that Ziphone is not uptodate anymore.
I recommend Pwnagetool or Quickpwn to unlock/jailbreak current versions of Iphone software.
