Question about HP Photosmart M425 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Camera Locked The camera is locked and it says: Memory Card Locked. Have gotten two new memory cards and checked and rechecked the slider on the cards. Still says memory card locked and won't let me take pics. This problem has been stumping me for quite some time now.

Having the same issue as "sycamoretree". It's not a problem with the card, since I've tried two other cards that are working in my other camera. Problem occurs once any of the cards are inderted into the slot in the M425. I am also unable to get the format capability. Stumped!

Many times you need to format the memory card in order to use it... have you formatted the memory card? There's a menu on the camera to do this.

If you're using a card like an SD card, there's a very small slide switch that actually locks the card so no one can over write your pics. Find the slide switch and move it the other way, and that should unlock the card. You'll still have to format.

Fix memory error message on camera

Hi there! Make sure the SD card is not locked. There is a tiny slider on the side. If is in the "down" position, the card cannot have new files saved to it. Move the slide to the "up" position, then reinsert the card.

If the slider is very loose, it's possible that inserting it into the camera slides it down, essentially making it useless. I have one like that. You could try a touch of superglue to make the slider harder to move, but I have never tried this and you would need to be very careful not to use too much, and to make sure it's entirely dry before putting it in your camera. Perhaps try a different memory card?

My memeory card is locked

On the side of the memory card, there is a small slider that locks and protects the memory card from being overwritten. Yours may be in the locked position. Simply pull out your memory card from your camera and unlock your memory card by sliding the tab.
Hope this helps,
Andrew

THIS MEMORY CARD IS LOCKED, PANASONIC FS42 SILVER/ARGENT

This is usually caused by the SD card, and is nothing to do with the camera. On the SD card there is a small slider - which allows you to lock the card (to prevent accidental erasure).

If you put in on the table with contacts upwards, corner cut top left, then the slider is on the right hand edge, about 1/3 the way down. If it is slid to the top position (nearest the contacts) the card is unlocked. If it is slid down (away from the contacts) the card is locked.

If it is a damaged / "cheap" card, sometimes the slider falls out, in which case the card is locked. You can still read from it, but not write to it until fixed or replaced.

Have you tried the camera with another SD card, to see if the problem persists? (A reputable photo store will often lend you a card for the 20 seconds it takes to do this test).

CARD LOCKED appears oo screen, camera wont work?

Does this camera take a memory card, separate from the built-in memory of the camera? If so, remove that memory card and look closely at all sides and edges, to make sure that there is not a read-only protection switch on it.
Many of these memory cards have tiny switches, sliders back and forth, that protect the memory from being erased.
If you slid that switch into the locked position without being aware that it is there, and without knowing that you did, then the error message makes sense.
Remove the memory card and look at it very carefully.

MEMORY CARD LOCKED

Unlock it. SD cards have a little slider on the left side (face up) that locks and unlocks it.

Memory card blocked!!

I have the same exact problem with my camera and NOTHING works. Bought a new card, didn't work. Checked and rechecked the card to make sure it isn't locked...didn't work. I have no solution for you but to tell you you are not alone with this problem and it isn't your card or the little slider on your card. It is within the camera.

Hi everyone,

Here's the solution, I just had the same problem LOL!
1. take the memory card out
2.On the memory card there is a little switch (it will be the little tiny piece on the side of the card thats a different color) slide it up.

That's it!
