Question about Canon PowerShot A710 IS Digital Camera

Prompted to set date

Every so often, when I turn on my camera, I am asked to set the date. It doesn't happen every time, but once in a while. I was once told it may be related to batteries not being fully charged.

Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Thank you,

Rob

Check/replace the little CR1220 button battery for the clock. It sounds like yours is running down. It's compartment is located right next to where the AA batteries are inserted. It's a common battery, and you should be able to find one at Radio Shack, or even Walmart.

The Time/Date battery is a small round lithium battery the size of a dime in the battery compartment. You can get the numbers off it and buy one at Walmart or Ebay.

My Camera keeps asking me for the date and time every time I turn it on How do i stop this?

Press the m button during shooting or playback to display the setup menu. The setup menu provides access to a variety of camera settings, including options not listed in the function menu, display options, and the time and date. Once you have the date and time set it should stop asking.

Camera Canon A710 IS started to ask set time date when turned on

When the camera is left without power for an extended period of time, the time and date settings are gone. You need to reset them and when you're finished, click the set/ok button twice.

CoolpixS51 camera stuck on set time and date

Not 100% sure about this model, but most have another battery in the camera for the clock functions. That battery could be low.
Try looking in the manual for the clock battery and pull that and replace it. See if that helps.

You will see the last picture taken. Press again and you will be in shoot mode. The date and tame will be there. It is a bit fuzzy but works,

Date time setting does not program

There is not an option to remember the date/time when you power off the camera. The camera should always remember the time. If it forgets the setting when you power it off then your backup battery has gone dead. Check your manual to see if it is something you can replace yourself. I am not familiar with this camera specifically but some cameras make the backup battery accessible and some require disassembly. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
