If you are referring to a Whirlpool manufactured top loader (such as Kenmore) with the auto-leveling mechanism in the back, the following link explains step-by-step how to properly level your machine:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3868923-level_whirlpool_top_loading_washer

This is a very simple procedure that you may have to repeat from time to time as the auto-leveler can readjust itself due to heavy vibration from an unbalanced load. Just make sure the wash tub is empty before attempting to level the washer. If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Leveling kenmore elite front loader

  • Place the level on the top of the washing machineicon1.png to see if it is level. Make sure you test it side to side and front to back.

Pull the washing machine away from any walls if you have to make an adjustment to the legs.

  • Lift the washericon1.png and place the wood block underneath the washer. Place the block near the leg that needs to be adjusted, but don't let it obstruct the leg.

  • Loosen the nut that secures the legicon1.png with the wrench.

  • Raise the height of the leg by twisting it to the left, or lower the height by twisting it to the right.

  • Remove the block of wood from under the washer and recheck the machine with the level.

  • Raise or lower the leg if additional adjustments are needed.

  • Tighten the nut on the leg with the wrench when the machine is level.

  • Repeat the process for each leg that needs to be adjusted.

  • Move the washer back into position and check with the level again to make sure the washer remains stable to finish leveling the machine.

    Maintain ur washing machine

Tricks to Keep Your Washing Machine Maintained

Water-fill hoses

Over time, the rubber water hoses that came with your new washing machine may leak or burst. It's a good preventive maintenance practice to check these hoses from time to time for any sign of wear or weakness. Often there's a small blister in the rubber of the hose, which could rupture. Most manufacturers recommend replacing the hoses every 5 years. An alternative is to replace the rubber hoses with high quality stainless steel fill hoses, which are more rugged.

Leveling
If your washing machine is not level, it can vibrate strongly during the spin cycle. If your washing machine is not perfectly level--with all four legs touching the floor--it can bang and rock back and forth, and even begin to "walk" across the room. This isn't good for the machine and may damage anything near the machine. Use the adjustable front and/or back leveling legs on the washer to adjust the machine to the proper height, then tighten the lock nut up against the body of the machine to keep the leg from rotating.

Most machines, however, have "self-adjusting" rear legs. You set these legs by tilting the entire machine forward onto its front legs (with the rear legs 3 to 4 inches off the floor) and then setting the machine back down. The legs should adjust automatically. If they don't, you may need to tilt the machine forward and rap on the rear legs with the handle of a hammer to loosen them--a procedure that's easier to accomplish with a helper.

Surface cleaning
Your washer has either a painted steel or porcelain-coated steel cabinet. It's perfectly safe to use a little dish detergent and a damp rag to clean all of its surfaces. If the surface is porcelain, you can even use a little non-abrasive cleanser for stubborn stains.
Vibrate on spin cycle

Most times this is a simple leveling problem. On bottom of all washers is little leveling legs, they turn out to raise and turn in to lower. Most the time as gravity spins, it is always better to have the front legs little higher the the back legs. Meaning have the back of washer a little lower then the front, it seems to carry gravity back and makes up for the gravitational force.

How do we level the washing machine. The legs/bolts come out but we can't get them to lock in the position we want.

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today. The front legs should have a lock nut on them and the rear legs are self leveling legs. You level the front then lean the unit forward and drop the back and they will level.Only drop it like 3 inches.

I have a 90 series Kenmore washer, and I need to adjust the height of the back legs, but I do not know how to make the adjustment

The rear legs are floating and self leveling. If one of them legs is all the way up in the base tip the washer towards you and yank out the leg to where each side is floating. Then ease the washer back down to the floor and she will level herself off.

Level the front of the machine. Tilt it front until the back legs are about 2" off the floor and drop it. The rear legs are on a pivot that sometimes sticks.

    BACK LEG LEVELING ARM

The back legs are usually not adjustable. Adjust the front legs & lock them with the lock nuts, at the lowest level, that is the machine tilts towards the front. Adjust further if there is any shake when you try with your hands.

You could also check to see if any springs or shocks have become loose. Refer manual.

Leveling a washer tub how to do so

first get a level. second, some have self leveling rear legs, just lean the machine forward and set down slowly. the rear legs are now level. if you dont have self leveling rear legs, the legs screw in, so just screw them in or out as well as the front legs untl it appears level by eye. now place the level on the washer. check it front to back and side to side. try rocking the machine to see if there is any movement. if there is adjust the legso it stops rocking, all the while keeping an eye on the level
