Hi

It sounds like Drivers for the Video card is not loaded properly.

What is the current screen resolution?
Are you able to increase the resolution to say 800 x 600 pixel or preferably 1024 x 768 pixel?

If the current screen resolution is 640 x 480 pixel and you are unable to increase resolution to the above pixel levels, try updating Windows Drivers for your video card.

Screen Resolution

Click the "Start" menu. Click "Settings" and "Control Panel."

Choose "Display" and "Settings" in Windows 98, ME or XP. In Windows Vista, click "Appearance" and "Adjust Screen Resolution."

Click on the resolution bar and slide it to the right to lower the screen's resolution and to the left to raise the screen's resolution.

The optimum screen resolution usually depends on the size of the laptop screen.

The recommended resolution for a 15-inch screen is 1024 x 768, 17- to 19-inch screen is 1280 x 1024, and 20-inch screens is 1600 x 1200.

However, you can adjust the resolution to your personal preference.

Click ""Apply to see how the resolution looks on the laptop's monitor.

Click the "Start" menu. Click "Settings" and "Control Panel."

Choose "Display" and "Settings" in Windows 98, ME or XP.

In Windows Vista, click "Appearance" and "Adjust Screen Resolution."

Click "Colors." Choose 32-bit for a high color-pixel ratio that will make the colors brighter and bring out image details.

Choose 24-bit for a medium color-pixel ratio if the screen is too bright or if images are somewhat distorted.

Some older laptops have a 16-bit color setting, but this setting is no longer recommended as it will distort images and text.

Always Click "Apply" to see how the color setting looks on the laptop's monitor.

Click "OK" to save the color settings

hope this helps

The picture is too big for the screen. The four buttons will only adjust colour and contrast - not size

To adjust the screen size (resolution) you have to right click on an empty place on Desktop, select Properties and then Settings. Under screen resolution change it to more, until it shows under it 1024x768, or even bigger if you want and it is possible.

If you right hand mouse click on your desktop picture, a menu will become available. Click on Screen resolution and then Advanced settings. There will be options inside that window to allow you adjustment of the display.
Hope that helps.

Our school has a Dell projector and when we plug it into a computer or laptop it does not connect or recognize the computer. I have tried to Fn F8 and others things. What am I doing wrong?

You have to change the resolution of the pc/laptop, by right clicking on the screen and choosing display properties, goto the settings tab at the top of the window and adjust the slider to 800 by 600 and adjust the colour quality down from 32 to 24 or 16. Also ensure there is not a setting in the bios that alows you to change the setting to use vga onboard socket.
Now boot the pc/laptop with the projector plugged in and you should see your windows screen appear on the screen. hope this helps.

Dell b130 laptop boots to very high resolution causing the image to be compressed to the left side of the screen

First of all, by the sounds of it, it is booting to a very low resolution. ;)
Assuming that you run Windows, right click your desktop and go into either preferences or display settings. In one of those tabs, you'll be able to adjust your screen resolution. Usually the maximum setting it gives you is what your monitor is designed for. If not, just play around with the settings until you get the right resolution. If you screw something up, it's not a big deal; just don't do anything for a bit and it'll revert to the previous setting.
I hope this helps!
