Packard Bell MotherBoard R6512 (PWA-8050MB/M BD

Hi Fox

I'm very greatfull for what you are doing for me.
Tomorrow i wil take some measures from various components on the Power area specially this yellow component that i think is the FUSE (PF1).
As you say the other component on lacation PD701 must be the DIODE.
Now i send you 2 much better pictures:

Thank you very much

    Allo Mulder:

I have made some measurements and after that i brought my motherboard to a electronic shop to identify the DIODE and the FUSE.

My measurements are: (I did it with a 9V battery)

    1. Incoming voltage between (+ )and (-) is 9.1V
    2. Voltage between the 2 poles of the FUSE 9.1V. (Fuse grilled???)
    3. Resistance between 2 poles of the FUSE = no movements (dead????)
    4. From (+ )and both poles of the DIODE Voltage is 9.1V
It's seems that de Diode lets pass the neutral and the FUSE does'nt let pass the stream.
When i know more i let you know. Now i'm waiting for response of i can buy both parts (Diode and Fuse)

Hi Domingos,
Yes you're right !!! PF1 is the fuse and PD701 is the diode...
What are the results from measurements ?
Is the fuse grilled ? And is the diode OK ?
Do you have the voltage somewhere ? or is it shorted beetwen + and - ?

My battery wil not charge on my laptop

Two things could be wrong. Either your battery is bad or the port that your battery connects to on your motherboard is bad.

Buy a battery and see if it charges. If it don't then you have the bigger problem.

Here is a link to a battery.

I'm sure you can try ebay for a cheaper one.

Motherboard Packard Bell EasyNote R6512

38ae9ee.jpg Hi Domingos,
Don't worry for your English, I'm french and mine is not so good...

The first component seems to be a diode : what is its indication near it on the mobo ("Dxxx" or "PDxxx" or what else) ? Check its resistance in both direction.
I don't recognize any fuse, and the orther picture is too far (components are too small), but you should look for indication like "Fxxx" or "PFxxx" or "FUxxx". Sometimes, fuses look like green resistor (flat and rectangular) with a cross on it like X. Just behind the diode it's a resistor because there is "R010" on it. However, check its resistance to be sure it isn't grilled.
When you put the power on the mobo, do you find voltage beetwin ground and positive pole of components ?
May be you could resend picture of the other side but nearer.
Hoping this help you...

Hi Domingos,
I've just changed the grilled fuse and the zener diode which was shorted. The problem is to find where they are on YOUR mobo if it's exactly the same trouble...
At least, did you find the fuse (very often the first component after power jack) ? and diodes are small red or orange glass cylinder with yellow ring.
The fuse should be conductive of course and diode should be conductive in only one direction. For both, check it with ohmmeter, in each direction for the diode (change probes of meter on poles).
If necessary, change compononents : be carefull with diode polarity because it's important (colored ring in the same direction).
I hope this will help you...
