Question about Samsung HCL4715W 47" Rear Projection Television
Hi! Here's a description of the problem. Please let me know if it sounds like it's worth fixing. Thanks!
When the power button is pressed, the red light glows; sometimes a click occurs and sometimes not. There is no picture on the screen, however. Every now and then there will be a flash of light (which apparently eliminates the possibility of a bulb burnout).
On my hcll4715w set I found that the -30 and the +30 vold lines were overloading the power supply. These lines power the convergence IC's. I found the IC's are drawing too much current without having a dead short. Try replacing the convergence IC's to correct dead set.

I had the same problem. Turns out something called a flyback transformer went out, and it comes on a large board, not separately (go figure). This transformer powers the three crt's. 365 bucks later and its fixed, but in need of bulbs, as the edges of the picture is turning yellow, and the auto convergence just makes the picture blurry. Doing manual convergence works. Now I have a TV that probably isn't worth anywhere near what I've got in it, after $900 initially 2 years ago, $365 to repair, and who knows how much for three bulbs. I looked on Ebay and crt rear projectors arent even getting $150.................

Your model doesnt have a bulb. It has 3 CRTs instead. Sounds like something minor in the start up voltages. thereby allowing the start up relay to click then other times the relay doesnt click. So its either standby or start up supplies where the fault is. You can get a manual here at this link and also free support to help you figure it out.
