Stuck in video standby mode! help!

My Fuji FinePix A345 is stuck in video mode. no matter which button I press, video, review or photo, it stays in video mode. I can start to take video, and then stop it, but can't review what I took, or take a photo or review any of my photos. I checked batteries, they are good, took them out and put them back in again, tried troubleshooting articles on the web. I am stuck. We are going on a family vacation in a couple days and I was hoping to use the camera. any help totally appreciated. Lori

Mine is having the same problem, stuck on Video mode. Doesn't anyone have the answer to this? It would be a shame to just trash it.

I have a fuji A350 camera and it too seems to be stuck in movie mode and it displays "standby". It seems to click when I move the switch to play and to take pictures. I have new rechargable batteries installed.
Is there a fix for this?? Help

I have the same exact problem.....
i hooked up a multimeter to the switch, the switch is fine.
This camera hasn't fallen or taken any hard hits that I know of.
I contacted Fujifilm and they couldn't help.
Tried restoring it, reformatting the memory inside, (BTW this voids any warranty) I even hooked it up to my computer and uninstalled the camera software and reinstalled it! NOTHING WORKS IT SEEMS!
Any one who thinks they could help me out please me email me at kevin@kevincroissant.com

I took the ****** apart and found two spring-loaded black triangular plastic pieces poking out of two rectangular chips about 2mm square, just below the circular piece on the outside of the camera that changes mode – play, video, camera. Actually I found one of the above, because the second triangular piece was stuck in the closed position. A bit of jiggling and voila the problem was fixed.
That was the good news. The other news is that I must now reinsert inside of the shell a black circular piece of plastic that affixes to the rotating circular piece on the outside of the camera that changes the mode. When properly attached this circular piece manipulates the triangular pieces to change the mode.
I think that the likelihood of getting this piece properly aligned and affixed so that it moves the triangular pieces properly when the mode knob is rotated falls into the statistical probability range of pork taking wing. But worth a try.
BTW, my camera is an old Z2800, but I suspect the situation holds for all Fuji units similiarly constructed.

Lori, the switch above the display may be broken. does it still 'click' at each of the 3 settings? (play, video, camera)

Standby

The only thing I've seen on this model and similar ones is the metal plate on the back side of the mode switch (play, video, camera) becomes loose. A small cross point scewdriver is needed to remove the back cover.

Fujifilm A345 Switch will not operate correctly; Will not switch between play, camera, and video

The only thing I've seen on this model and similar ones is the metal plate on the back side of the switch becomes loose. Beyond that, it sounds like a logic problem in the circuitry. It is probably not cost effective if that is the case.

A345 finepix viewer

images obtained from the Fuji FinePix Pro S1 digital camera that are saved as TIFF-YC (also called Tagged Image File Format YCbCr or Yb). TIFF files cannot be opened with any of the programs that are native to WinXP, other Microsoft imaging programs, or most third-party software. The TIFF-YC format is antiquated and you should avoid it. Instead, save images as JPEGs (Joint Photographic Experts Group) or some other format.

YOu shoUld save the file in another format.

Fuji a345 digital camera will only take video footage, not photos

The three position switch for play, camera, video has likely broken. The plastic switch on the outside has a small contact plate held to the back of the switch on the inside with one small screw. I do have a replacement on hand if you are interested.
