Question about Zyxel P660HW-D1 Router

1 Answer

Choked upload? I get only 50 % upload BW of what I should get. I've installed the software from the CD and downloaded the latest firmware (3.40). Sometimes the upload is 100 % but if that happens, the DSL Mode says ERROR inte the status screen. Funny, but that's how it is. When it's choked at 50 % the DSL Mode says Adsl 2+

    There is only my:

    Ethernet connection

    Hamachi (inactivated)

    Internet gateway.

There is another computer connected to my router but it is currently shut down and should not interfere.

I am quite sure that the problem is on the router's end. I am however, out of ideas.

    Thanks for your endeavours!

Hiya Masklin... go in to network connections... there will probably be 2 connections showing.. if you are the only user through your router.. disable lan 2.. trying to get two connections through same port.. which is more than likely at fault.
It will be the Ethernet connection that you need to leave enabled.. this should eliminate your problem ..

Hiya Masklin... De-install... do a complete virus scan of all folders including "hidden" avg/ a-square/spybot.. all free and pretty good... see what it comes up with... If you are confident that you can delete rogue files.. do so... Click in to system properties untick system restore..( make sure you have a backup copy before doing so on disc).... reinstall router software.. retick sytem restore.... see what happens!

Upgrade firmware on NETGEAR router.

Many a times, it is required that you upgrade the firmware on your NETGEAR for it to function properly and be equipped with the latest updates and feature offered by NETGEAR.

I have listed the specific steps which are required to upgrade firmware on most of the NETGEAR

A. Open the router page using the following way:

1. Connect a computer to the router using any one of the 4 available ports.
2. Open the browser(Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox).
3. Access the router, usually with http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://www.routerlogin.com.
4. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the username and password is case sensitive. In case you have changed the password for router login then you need to use that one).

B. Visit the following link to download the latest firmware.

http://kb.netgear.com/app/

Type the model make of your NETGEAR router and it will show you the download page for that specific product.

C. Please follow the steps to upload the firmware of the router:

1. Open the router page using the steps as mentioned under step A.
2. Under Maintenance, click router Upgrade.
3. Click Browse and locate the upgrade file.
4. Click Upload.
5. Wait for the router to reboot.
6. Click on 'Logout' (at the bottom of the list) from left menu.

It is recommended that you reset and then reconfigure your router for the firmware to upload properly.

NOTE: Please upgrade the firmware on a computer connected wired to your router. Upgrading firmware on a wireless computer may cause your router to malfunction and can lead your router to be in an unusable state.

These steps will succesfully allow you to upgrade firmware on your NETGEAR router.

How to change software version of 3Com router from 1.20 ver to another latest version because it not support a lot of command for configuration.

Usually the software version of routers is called a firmware. You will need to download the latest frimware version from there website and upload it to your router through its configuration page.
You get to the configuration page through the routers ip address, usually its 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1, you will need to type this into a web browser.

An error occurs during installation

The CD Setup wizard will fail to complete the installation or sometimes fail to run at all because antivirus, anti-spyware or PC firewall is blocking the installation process.

To ensure a successful installation from the CD Setup Wizard, make sure all security tools are temporarily disabled before the installation begins. Enable back the antivirus, anti-spyware or software firewall once the installation is completed.

NOTE: If setup still fails to complete, check that you have selected the correct operating system in the setup options. You may also try restarting the computer and reinstalling from the CD if the setup fails to complete the first time. If all else fails, try searching for your device model at http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/ and clicking on Get Downloads to download the latest firmware.

Firmware update for netgear router

I was having the same issues too. I followed the steps dotted all over the internet and was getting stuck in exactly the same place. No matter how hard I tried, I just kept getting the 'invalid filename' issue.

Eventually I figured it out - the way that Netgear/Virgin have blocked firmware updating is to break the filename checking page so it doesn't accept any files. What we need to do is bypass the filename checking code so that the firmware upgrade system can then handle the file, and we're going to do this by manipulating the web page using a tool called Firebug.

Here is the solution:

1) If you haven't already got it, install Mozilla Firefox 3 (there is good reason for this - I'm not just shamelessly plugging it! :P).
2) Install the 'Firebug' extension for Firefox from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1843 and restart your browser when requested.
3) Navigate to your router's admin page, and fill in your login details (if you don't know them, it's likely to be the one written on the bottom of your router).
4) Navigate to the router upgrade page (the one where you select the firmware to upload' and select the location of the firmware file, like you would normally. Now, instead of clicking the 'Upload' button, press F12. This should bring up Firebug in the bottom quarter of your screen.
5) Now, click the moz-screenshot.png2193448.jpgbutton at the top of the Firebug panel and then click on the 'Upload' button. This will bring up the code for the upload button, where it does the filename checking. It'll look like this:
b5b0399.jpg

6) It looks like Netgear have actually stripped out the real checking code so it can't be used, so we'll need to fool the page into thinking everything's fine and dandy with the filename so it can update the firmware. Click where it says "return checkData();" and replace it with "return true;".

7) Finally, click the upload button. The router should now accept the file and start updating.

And hey presto! You have a non-nargled wireless router with the latest firmware!

Software won't install, keeps getting a #322 error.

Hi -

Reset you Linksys to factory default,
press and hold the reset button for a few seconds, at the rear.

Then, connect via a cable (NOT WIRELESS, use your perent computer) and set your security again.
Remember admin password :-)
then set the security on your other computer with the same as the router

Then, I recommend downloading the latest firmware and install that.
Download the latest firmware from here:
http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Download_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1115417109974&packedargs=sku%3D1121874580098&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper
Need additional help write a comment, and I´ll be back :-)
Other vice, vote "FixYa" if this was sufficient.

3com 3crwdr200a reboots every 30 minutes

The 3com website is remarkably shoddy on this issue, and doesn't have the newest required updates. Even the KB on their site is thin on solutions.

You really need firmware 3.6.4, yet 3.0.1 is the latest on the official website. Try this page:
http://3crwdr.googlepages.com/

for the very latest firmwares, and note that it's best to clear out the router memory completely before adding the new firmware to it. This is because it sometimes doesn't like the new image files otherwise. The way I suggest:
1. Note all of your settings manually (don't save a config file, it may not read back in).
2. Hard reset and clear the memory, by holding down the reset button and powering on.
3. Connect to 192.168.1.1 with your browser - you may need to mess with the network settings on your PC to get it to connect. You will see a very bland screen, asking you for a firmware file, rather than the traditional login screen.
4. Upload the latest firmware, downloaded from the site above.
5. Allow the router to do it's business and restart.
6. Connect back to 192.168.1.1, and you will once again see the correct router software, with a new install wizard.
7. Re-enter all your settings, as noted above.

Settings Keep dissapearing

Upgrade the firmware of the router. Download the latest firmware on Belkin's download site and save it on your computer. Access the setup page of the router by going to 192.168.2.1 and go to firmware update option, upload the firmware of the router.

Or call the toll-free Supportrix Tech Support at 1-877-787-8749 and give "support call" as promo code for one free technical support call.
