Re: no sound present in my laptop
Hiya Andybeh, type acer in to your search bar and go to main site.... Either go to support & Downloads.. type in your make and model.. download the sound card drivers for that machine ... or alternatively where you should go to.
Have you tried clicking in to device manager.. will be under something like sounds /audio etc.. click on properties.. advanced.. update driver through windows!
Alternatively on reformat.. your recovery disc should have contained the basic restore drivers.... if it doesnt and you do get the drivers .. would suggest you doing a complete recovery disc copy, once you have all you need!

You probably need to install a device driver for your sound card if Windows does not support it by default. You should have a CD for the audio card which contains a driver, otherwise you can download it from the manufacturer's support site.
Sorry pal. Machine is a DELL Inspiron 1721. No cable neither loudspeakers. I have no motherboard CD shipped with laptop. I already tried to install audio drivers from DELL Utilities & Drivers CD, but OS refuses to recognize that a soundcard is present.
Thanks anyway. It has to be solved by someone who's had the same problem and managed to work around it.
you have to download the sound drivers and install the software..can't give you the exact driver as haven't specified much about your PC. still try to download one of the common driver like realtek- Ac97... from the following URL .. http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
or try to download other audio drivers and install it...your problem would be fixed.
These Server Operating systems have compatibility issues with some hardware. I would do the following:
Get updates from the 2003 Server site; it checks for drivers also and updates them.
Write Acer Tech Support, tell them you want updated drivers for XXXXX soundcard.
Put your CD with sound drivers in drive. Go to hardware install in C-Panel and ask it to search for updated drivers on the CD. Or Right Click My Computer> Properties> hardware and select the yellowed gizmos. One of them will be your sound. Right click and select UPDATE DRIVER with the CD already on drive. Follow instructions. If you don;t have such a CD for your soundcard, find the drivers from Acer tech Support.
