This may sound stupid but will the vinegar & water stain or mess up the carpet?

  • 66larry Apr 02, 2008

I ran the vinegar & water thru the system. It sprayed sometimes & sometimes it was not spraying. Just streams came out. But it is better.. maybe i need to run some more vinegar thru the machine...

MINE DOES THE SAME BUT IT seems that the trigger makes no diference it runs out always and it looks like its just dripping in a puddle while its running. Took apart the machine and cleaned out the upper dispenser valve assembly. I also had a loud whining sound much like a faulty turbo charger on a car. I looked through the lower part of the vac and checked the motor, impeller, casing, and mounting screws, all were in good condition other than a slight tweaking i did to straighten out the impeller. I did however find the problem to be the round object that the attachments plug into. I dissassembled the unit to find that this is a turbo charger of sorts! The suction from the motor spin another freewheeling impeller that has a small fan like pump on one end. The solution goes into this and i'm guessing its pressurizing the water to make it jet spray. this device is really simply made and has nothing to keep any presice tolerances that may be requiered to perform properly, it can easily move on its sharft in or out which directly affects its ability to create any pressure. I have solved my high pitched noise and now have great suction power but this solution draing out is baffling me due to the hose routing they have and need to see a service manual showing me the internal parts better.

Either the nozzles are clogged, or the brush block is not turning.

Try putting in a solution of vinegar and water and run it thru, if there is any clogs, that will clear it out. If it doesn't, then you may have to have it checked.

There is a small pump inline of the spray unit. This is normally a coil type reciprocating type and most often this can be dirty or faulty.
So remove pump and check it on table to see if this works, if not clean or test coils for continuity. If not replace.

The carpet is not intended to get soaked, like what you see with a spray application. If you are seeing a stream of water in the nozzle/tank during the recovery stroke, this is working properly.

Hoover Dual V steam vac model F7425-900 won't dispense detergent

Check the spring loaded valve at the bottom of the detergent bottle.
Push it up with your finger or a pencil or some such thing and see
if fluid comes out. If it does, then the problem is the valve or tubing I
would suspect.

Hoover steamvac won't spray water/cleaning solution

Clogging of the pump that sprays water/cleaning solution is very common in Hoover and Bissell Steam Vacs. Try running a cycle of 1part vinegar or CLR to 3 parts warm, distilled water through the vacuum pumps. The heads get clogged with soap and the water pumps get clogged at the opening of the flash heater due to minerals in hard water. If you want to extend the life of your steam vac, don't use the heater unless you are using distilled water. This can get expensive, so I recommend not using the heater.

Hoover Steam Vac clean water tank valve leaks

a) make sure that there is not a place for a stair attachment. If
there is make sure air is not leaking through where the attachment goes
on because of damaged or misplaced fitting.

b) some steam vacs leave water behind them and **** up in front of
them. If you just walked forwad with the steam vac nothing would be
sucked into the tank.

c) try taking your finger off the trigger and using the steam vac. If
the tank still empties the trigger is stuck open.

d) try putting clean water in the dirty water tank only and using it on
a dry rug. If water goes somewhere from the dirty water tank you have
a leak.

e) take apart what you can and look at the parts. A good visual
inspection can solve many of these types of problem if you are careful
not to miss anything.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. I have a similar Hoover “SteamVac” and the vacuum does not create steam as you stated, but you do have to use the hottest water with cleaning solution and the Hoover will clean your carpet by spraying down the solution, the scrubbing brushes will loosen the dirt and the vacuum will pickup the excess water until the holding tank is full and then you have to empty it, and then start again. The word “Steam Vac” is something that the Hoover factory labeled but so far I have not seen anything that actual produces “Steam” while cleaning. Feel free to contact the Hoover factory with your complaint @ the information listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Steamvac

You might try running a solution of vinegar and water thru it to clean out the lines and spray nozzles. Also are the brushes turning when you are using it, that could also be the problem.
