FYI, I know this is an old posting but you don't have to go to Dell Tech Support for password reset, just reset the CMOS password jumpers inside the computer. Not a difficult task at all, refer to the owner's manual for details on opening the computer, and for resetting the jumpers. Very easy solution, had to do it myself. Manuals for locating jumpers usually can be found online. Good luck.

How do I change the touch screen keyboard to a wireless

Your printer should connect up to any USB port (small rectangular opening near where the monitor and keyboard plug in (same type of opening). If your printer is so old it has a cream colored cable and one end that has 25 pins sticking out of it, you will save money by just buying a new $30 printer. Anyhow, newer printers connect with a thinner cable like your mouse cable, is flat / rectangular on one end, and is kind of tall-igloo shaped on the other end.

If you go for the new printer, I used to hate Epson, but bought one December 2013, and it uses a lot less ink than my older Canon or HP printer. I bought one with a touch screen panel and it can print from my smart phone and all the PCs without connecting any wires. The one I bought was about $100.

Your PC has a very new wired connection (Gigabit LAN) for your home network; but unfortunately does not come with a built in wireless card. If you are also unfamiliar with the LAN cable, it is an RJ45 connector. Looks just like a phone cable, but 50% wider.

If this is unclear, feel free to add more detail or let me know what you need more clarification on.

All the best to you,
Kerry

see if a shop will do it but may not. otherwise reinstall a version of Windows which you have to buy, which will write over the existing system files and be like buying a new machine. it will cost avg 150 at a computer shop. software plus load. windows varies depending what version you get

Find somebody with an old CRT-style monitor -- they are essentially WORTHLESS -- because they take up too much space, and not as nice a picture as an LCD, and offer to take it off their hands. Use it as a "test" monitor.

Or, it could be the video-card in your SEVEN-year-old computer.
Try replacing the video-card -- some friend probably has a "dusty" and "spare" video-card that can be temporarily used.

What is the market value of a Gateway 507GR computer?

Neither could I ... this computer is discontinued ... It is unusual that there are none to be found at eBay nor Craig's List, no rfurbs at any of the usual sites. Since you can't find it and I can't find it ... it is difficult to come up with a 'fair market value' for this discontinued product.

Here are the computer specs ... http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/R/4658/4658sp3.shtml

I am not sure how 'mint condition' applies in this case ...

I think you will need to add memory to this machine ... does it come with an OS? Is it running now? Can you check the Microsoft Hardware compatbility list at http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx

Here is an interesting site ... http://www.retrevo.com/search?q=Gateway+507GR&rt=oa&modelid=7784763 On their review section, they say this computer is over the hill ready to retire.

If I were interested in this computer, I would offer $100.00 but not go more than $150.00. I think this is very generous.

You may have left out a couple of steps.

Now, you need to configure the new display, by selecting "Control Panel" from the "Start" Menu. Then double-click the "Display" icon and click the "Settings" tab.

The manual for your HDMI TV will list the screen resolutions it supports, along with the refresh rates. Configure the resolution in the "Settings" tab, and then click the "Advanced" button to set the refresh rate.

If you are using the HDMI TV as the second monitor, you will also have to configure how it is used by Windows, according to the instructions pertaining to your video card. Most cards offer a "Clone" or "Mirror" mode, where both screens display the same content. Alternately, the "Extended Desktop" mode can be used, in which each monitor will operate independently.

Now, again, reboot your PC to apply the changes.

If you found this information helpful, please give me a big thumbs up when you rate my answer. Thanks!

Monitor compatibility

It will be compatible with the system, just keep on thing in mind, whatever resolution you set your computer at you may have to keep the ratio aspect active so that way the screen looks properly displayed.
