Question about GoVideo Go Video DVD/VCR Combo

1 Answer

Firmware Update Just before Go Video went out, they put a firmware update online for the DVD/VCR recorder combo.  This was supposed to fix that fact that the unit turns off when you are trying to copy from HBO, SHO, Max, etc., b/c they send out a signal that the item is copy protected.  I was wondering if anyone can upload this firmware update because the copy I got was bad and now the site is gone.  Or if anyone knows of a way to fix this problem, I'd appreciate it.  I believe Go Video is now selling the same units under LG.

I have the same problem and was hoping someone either had the firmware update or knows where to download it as Go Video is no longer around.  Over half of blockbuster videos won't play in my VR3845 and I have to play them using my xbox.

I cannot play DVDs.

This brand is already out in business.

A firmware upgrade is needed to make your GoVideo reads the dvds.

If you can post here the model number of your DVD/VCR, maybe we can help you find the last firmware update that the manufacturer released before they shutdown their business.

When a dvd is put in it says unsupported format

Chek your settings and make sure it is set to NTSC not PAL. Check the DVD to see if it is PAL format. Good Luck.

I can't record with my DVD player on 1x-16x DVDs

This unit is too old and too basic to handle 16x speed. However, there is a firmware update for this model DVD/VCR to record on 8x.

All you have to do is call the toll-free number in your manual and request it. They will send you an update disc.

Here is the basic procedure after you receive the update disc:

1. Turn on your TV and your combo unit. The tray should be closed. The unit must be in DVD mode.

2. Quickly press the sequence CM Skip, 6, 5, 4 (This will switch it into firmware update mode. The tray will eject automatically.)

3. Insert the disc and push the tray back in.

4. The update will begin. It will take approx. 2-3 minutes. It will tell you when it is complete and eject the tray.

5. When it is done, remove the disc, but DO NOT close the tray. It will go back in later. Turn the power off.

6. Wait a few minutes and when the tray goes back in wait about another 10 seconds and then you may turn the unit back on.

Firmware update procedure is now completed.

Panasonic DMR ES40V Err message, DVD won't play or record

I had a similar ERR message and freaked out a bit for a week. Panasonic customer service was no help and suggested i send it in for VERY expensive repair. No way. After tons of additional research and trouble shooting I fixed my unit tonight. I downloaded the DMR-ES40 DVD Recorder Firmware Update from the Panasonic update and stored in on a CD. Put the cd in my dvd player following instructions from the website. My system is restored and works well again.
Why paid personnel at Panasonic could not tell me this is beyond my understanding.
Try updating you firmware as I did. Hope you get the same success. -Tamara

What do I use media

Upgrading the firmware is always a good idea. Usually the instructions on the site are clear but they may also have a telephone number to ring to ask for the firmware upgrade on a disk.

Upgrades are there to remove the inevitable bugs that exist when a machine is released onto the market. there may be several upgrades during the life of the recorder.

Invalid disk error

Did you get this working? If not, then your DVD isn't supposed to be region free in the first place, and I can send you a firmware which I have used a hack in order to make region free. You can then take this firmware and follow the same instructions you used for the other firmware.
