In order to apply the fix, you must gain access to the right side of the printer as you are facing it. Also, the top of the printer needs removed so that you can gain access to the printhead and the wiper.

remove two screws from the back (note which screw came from which side as they are of different lengths),then locate and slightly bent the plastic release tab on each of the side panels and so it is able to easily remove the panels. The top portions of the printer can be removed and coaxed out rather easily.

see the printhead tilted back with the wiper assembly inbetween it and the frame. While lifting the printhead off of the wiper, slowly rotate the white gears on the top right portion of the printer so that the wiper started going down.

The printhead then returned to its fully rested state and the printer has never worked so well!

I BOUGHT A USED RICOH AFICIO COLOR 3006 COPIER FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA YESTERDAY. WHEN I TURN THE COPIER ON, I GET AN ERROR CODE SC456. WHAT DOES IT MEAN AND HOW DO I FIX IT?

Hi there

The error code 456 - Paper transfer unit position error.
If you cannot find any jammed paper in the unit, you may need a Ricoh service guy to give it just that. A good service

Graeme

The screen says the cover is open

There is a switch inside of the case that registers if the case cover is on, check to make sure it is connected and positioned correctly. You can also go into your bios setting to disable this feature and you shouldn't receive any further warnings. Hope this helps.

Xerox Phaser 7750 faulty door sensor

Hi,
it,s all $$ wherever you go ?
If you can find which wires contact ( Make/Break ) possibly with a multimeter. Remove the sensor, join the wires. tuck it into the inside of the printer.
tape it up to avoid any shorts.

Hi i've got a hp 5500,most mornings when i switch the machine on there is a recover print head mesage . can you tell me why this is happening and how i can resolve the problem. thank you gem

Ok well i'm a little confused on this one also, i presume you are referring to a HP printer and the message is displayed.

Try this and let us know if it makes sense to you.

There's a section in your Users Guide about this message.
It will appear on your printer when one or more print head(s) are not performing optimally, so it needs to make extra passes to maintain print quality. You can eliminate the message by:

1. Selecting a higher print quality
2.Cleaning print heads (also see RECOVER print heads)
3.Use the Image Diagnostic Print to identify which print head is causing the problem

Printer-squeel

The squeeling I think has to do with a small build up of ink on the carriage.

What I do is I open up the printer top so you can see the carriage as if you were putting in a printhead and then you unplug the power to the printer when teh carriage is in the unlocked position. Now you can freely move the carriage back and forth. If you notice there is a clearish long strip going from one side of the printer to the other that is placed flat ontop of the entire metal inside casing of the printer. Clean that entire strip with a cloth or something. Now take a piece of paper and fold it a few times so that it ends up looking like a ruler you can say. Put the paper flat on that clear strip and then take the carriage and move it over the paper. Basically your cleaning the underpart of the carriage that touches that clear strip that is attached to the metal body of the printer. Move it back and forth and you will see ink being put onto the paper thus cleaning it.

Just close the case up, plug in your printer and the squeaking should be solved till next time. As for that light problem, don't know what those lights mean. If there is a problem with teh printhead or ink though it will always tell you on the digital read out, or at least should.

Xerox printing problem

Is it asking for the fuser module to be replaced? The fusers have a fuse or a chip in them that turns them off after a certain number of impressions.
