How the hell do i change the now snapped band on the DC07? It has defeated 2 reasonable intelligent and practical people! ideas very welcome. The band appears to go through a slot in the bottom of the machine onto a spindle but we can not work out how to get at the spindle to put the band over it.

I can give you a general answer on most on the front edge of the bottom plate there are two screws or latches that you pull out to open and remove the plate then there will be two springs holding the beater bar in remove them and you should be able to go from there

Dyson DC07 belt change has resulted in very noisy vacuum!

Hi I agree with the first 2 solutions above but not the 3rd one.
If you have suction coming through the hose when the machine is in upright position then the u bend has nothing to do with this problem.

Right so ... The belt snapped.

The answer to you question is "why did the belt snap" its true that it could just be old age but its more likely to have been caused by a foreign object being sooked up.

How the belt/brushbar/motor interact

Your belt simply connects the motor to the brushbar know as Direct Drive. If an object get inside the space between the motor and the brushbar or if it can jam the brushbar then this will cause the rubber to burn. The motor will keep spinning and the belt wont be able to so will snap.

So its easy to see that the belt has snapped and people just think "'oh the belt has snapped"

You might wonder where im coming from here.

Anyway because the brushbar got jammed it may also have been buckled slighty either as a result of the foreign object causing it to stop suddenly from spinning at high speed or/and the result of the heat build up.

The rattling noise you now find your Dyson making is more than likely because your brushbar is buckled and when it spins the bristles are hitting the housing unit.

Your belt will snap again unless you replace the brushbar

The brush stoped rotating

Hi there,
There are a couple of reasons that the brush bar will not spin on a Dyson DC07.
1. The carpet / hard floor selector is set to hard floors.
2. There is material wound around the brush to the point that it is jammed.
3. The brush roller bearings are full of dust and **** so they have siezed up.
4. One of your
belts has snapped (there are 2)
5. The clutch is faulty.
Now to describe how to check each of these is a full essay so I have made a video instead. I have gone through each of these except maybe point 1 because it is self expainatory.
Have a look at the video and if it is helpful then please leave me a thumbs up, a comment or a testimonial.
If you find out that you need parts have a look at
Nelson Vacuums or VacuumSpot.
Hope this is helpful!

MY dc07 MAKES A LOT OF NOSIE WHEN IS USE ON CARPET MODE ONLY. SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING IS IN THERE OR THAT THE RUBBER BAND IS COUGHT OR BROKEN. THE BAND SEEM TOBE INTACT. TANCHO@SBCGLOBAL.NET TANYA

Hi there SmartAlec here. The noise is coming from the clutch, you have either got something caught in the roller or maybe the bearings are siezed in the brush roller. I have made a video to show you how to fix either problem. If the video is helpful please take the time to rate this solution or leave a comment. If you need filters or parts for your Dyson dc07 you can buy online at vacuumspot or nelsonvacuums.

Suction on the hose is

HI THERE.

THE PROBLEM COULD EITHER BE THE BELT HAS SNAPPED AND IN WHICH CASE IT WOULD BE EASIER TO CHANGE THE CLUTCH AS THERE ARE 2 BELTS ON THE CLUTCH. OR THE CLEAR RUBBER HOSE BEHIND THE FOORPLATE COULD BE SPLIT OR THERE COULD BE A BLOCKAGE AT THE TOP OF THE CYCLONE CYLINDER.

Bin bottom release snapped off. How do i open the bottom?

take out the three screws on the to near the handle inside you will find the remains of the old part you can either replace the old part from the top and put it back together to open it normally or you can use the old release stick to push down the catch at the bottom if you decide to replace the part make sure the release stick is in the centre through the 2 holes its very tricky
