Question about Intel Motherboard

Packard Bell 4451 lap top will not power up.

My Packard Bell 4451 lap top will not power up. If i try to power up off the battery nothing happens. If I plug the power supply in together with the battery, the charge light flashes once, then the power light flashes once, the sequence does this all the time the power is on but pressing the start button the computer does not power up.
If I remove the battery, just using the power supply, both charge and power lights flash at the same time, pressing the start button the computer still does not power up.
I have checked the power supply and it is putting out the correct voltage.
I have the old battery and a brand new one.
If i plug the power supply in and test the terminals where the battery plugs on to, I can only get up to about 4volts max. from any of the terminals.
I have tried removing the internal battery and holding the start button to discharge the memory, but it still would not start.

The computer was working fine, the wife left it booted up one day after using it, when we came back to it all we had were the lights flashing as above and could not restart it.

Could it be the small charger pcb s/n: 2B180001 !A 0246 ? or do you think the mother board is dead?

Can you still get parts for this lap top?

Kind regards,

Danny Holland.

Check the back of the power connector to see if it is loose. I have known alot of situations were, if not carefully removed, that power connector in the can free itself from the sodder on the Mother board therefore you wont be able to charge the battery nor boot up. hope that helps

My Packard Bell MV51-120 won't accept power have

There is two mosfets in the charger connecting line. probably those may be the culprit. This problem is with the motherboard volt in section. You have to use a digital multimeter& schematic to sort out the problem. Techs are fine to handle this.

Can i upgrade my packard bell 5090 motherboard?

No. And old isn't what your PC's ancient. Packard Bell machines from that era were in proprietary cases, making upgrades difficult if not impossible. Additionally, the power supply will probably be underpowered and will may not have the correct power connectors for modern mainboards . It's time to part with the old relic and get a new one.

Hi my notebook does not turn on ...... I when press the button lights up only the red and green, but only briefly....

Is the battery fully charged?
Have you disconnected the AC supply and pulled the battery? Sometimes the logic gets confused and needs the power completely removed to reset it.
Have you tried powering the laptop on with the AC supply and the battery removed?

Post answers to all the above questions.

Thanks, Jim
