you may need to clean the laser lens, get a dvd cleaner and try that, let me know if that doesn't work

I dismantled the console completely, removed & opened the DVD drive and pushed the laser assembly to its home position, carefully reconnected the disassembled unit to the mains inserted a disc & hey presto it worked perfectly!! I could have done all this by just opening the DVD drive & inserting a small flat screwdriver and pushing the laser gently. I enjoyed the experience though of cracking the console open & reassembling it successfully!

Listen to your dvd drive to see if it spins up or not when you put the disk in. If it does spin normally then you will be need a replacement laser.

If it does not spin correctly. The motor is stuck, sometimes if you open out the tray and stick something into the drive and give it a spin it will free the drive.

The likely hood is your spinner motor is bad. Crack the case. Take the dvd drive out and remove the top then reinstall in it original place. Don't install the plastic case. Turn it on by ejecting the the dvd (small hole on the left front use a pen tip) put a disc in then you can see if the disc spins or not if no then the spinner motor is bad. If you don't see the laser move or light up you may have a bad laser or the motor that moves the laser could be bad.

If you have unplugged your console, the time and date need to be reset. If the time and date are not correct, the xbox doesn't recognize the media. This fixed mine....some problems are more serious.

no it didnt help, bc it wont read my dvd cleaner which is a disc in itself, so what now????
