We had the same problem - we were told - as we returned the Sentria that this is a problem with then new Sentria wheels - due to the rubber.

otherwise the kirby vacuum can have the bristles raised a click and maybe that will correct the problem, there isn't much you can do except adjust the height of a kirby, it spins at one speed

Be sure that the brush roller is dusengaged.
To do this you:
* Lift up the headlight lamp
*Turn the handle until the red arrows line up

Ha.. Im so stupid! The vacuum was in drive causing the wheels to turn when moving backwards thus leaving scuff marks
(from the rubber wheels) on the hardwood. Place the Vacuum in Neutral and turn the belt off and Voila, No more scuff marks! Thanks for all the suggestions!!! You all are GREAT!!!

Well if it is the bristles leaving the marks then try raising them up a click, if it is the wheels, because of a loss of rubber covering, get some new ones, maybe they are covered under warranty. call kirby and find out

this website will help fix the marks on the floor

Do the rear drive wheels have the rubber on them or are they worn off and it is just plastic now.

How to fix wheels that raise and lower the beater bar

Hello! The M085845 has an automatic height adjustment that cannot be manually changed. There is a roller lifter assembly that helps to raise and lower the nozzle depending on whether the vacuum is in the upright or reclined position. You do not have to make any adjustments to the vacuum when going from carpet to hard floors. The brushes will continue to spin at all times when the vacuum is in use. Hope this helps!

Can you advise which setting should be used on different floors, ie hard floors and carpets, theres 2 different settings and I don't know which setting should be used on the different floors

Turn the machine on and look at the bottom. Turn to the two settings. The setting that stops the platten wheel from moving is for hard wood floors. If you cant tell, then setting 1 is most likely for carpets and 2 is for hard wood floors. Your machine is primarily a carpet vacuum cleaner, so 1 should be for carpets.

If you have a wax finish you can buff out scuffs with just a cloth. for polyurethane, do not use water. use the cleaner with a soft terry cloth. to much presure can make it worse.you can also use a small amount of paint thinner on polyurethane. make sure you remove excess with floor cleaner.

You should have an adjustment to remedy this...it is usually called a pile adjustment and is often found in the area above the beater bar.
Is the bar worn?  Is there something in the bar causing the scratches?
