Question about Sony Handycam DCR-VX2100 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
Okay, I read all the threads about hitting the Sony cameras to fix errors. Then, I finally ran into a post where someone said that the error is commonly caused by a loose plug, hence hitting it may jiggle the plug into the right place. I opened up both sides of the camera and jiggled all the connections I could find, but it still will not accept a tape.
One of our VX2100s here at the school makes noise, as if it is playing a tape, as soon as you put a battery on it, with power on or off. When you hit eject, it makes the noise for ten seconds and then ejects. When you put a tape in, it gives the C31:30 error. Does the camera think there is a tape in it already?

The flip up cover over the cassette housing has the "eject" button built into it. Sony has had problems with the flexible harness that connects this door to the camera body. The harness rubs against the metal frame of the camera and causes various malfunctions such as the constant eject symptom you are having. Sony service in Laredo, TX can repair this for you, it is no big deal. Good luck, this is a nice camera! Joe Weibel customelectronics.org

It sounds like the tape door is out of alignment, causing stress on the tape and the inside mechanical system. Requires a visit to the service shop.

My best solution, is to pull all power sources form the camera for 24 hours. If this does not work, then take the small screws surrounding the Tape housing, in order to try and get the tape out. Best of luck dude ;)

try slapping it at the side of the tape and than maybe push the reset button, it must solve your problem, its probably the little lever inside that tells the camera that there is a tape inside
