This is not caused by an update. Please check your unit's serial # to see if it starts with a "12P", "14V" or "143". If so, these units have a specific touchscreen that can fail even without physical damage to the glass or screen. The only way to resolve it is to replace the touchscreen & glass. You will not lose any of your data. The unit is not frozen and you can verify it by quickly pressing the on/off button. If you hear a beep, it's not locked up. You touchscreen has failed and won't accept any input. Please see this link:

Garmin froze with a "Map Update Notice" the screen

The unit isn't frozen. If you tap the power button you will hear it beep and change screens. What has happened is your touchscreen has failed. This is a common problem. Your touchscreen needs replaced. If you want some troubleshooting info, please see this link. There is just too much info to retype here:

Clear all ur installed apps/data/music/pictures first. Turn the unit off and then on. while on, reset it again. turn it on again and now connect it ur PC to load additional maps and see if it helps.

Corrupted the software

It depends on how the files were corrupted. If the source of the corruption is not physical or magnetic damage to the memory chip where the software is stored, you should be able to reinstall the operating system software and the new maps right from your own PC.

First I would recommend going to the Nuvi 660 page in the Garmin website, look for the link to "downloads and updates", and download the most recent software update. The update is free.

Once you have done that, try reinstalling your maps. You can only load Garmin maps into your Nuvi.

If you are in the US and your memory storage is not damaged, I can update your GPS and install the map for you if you prefer.

UNLOCK

1. Enter the correct PIN.
2. Go to the secure location where you set the PIN and the unit will not ask you for the PIN.
3. Send the unit back to Garmin to be unlocked.

I have had sucess in unlocking Nuvi's but I will only do it for owners who can prove ownership through a valid sales receipt and proof of ownership through registration through Garmin.

Garmin 660 wont operate on power lead

Are you using the Garmin AC adapter or the Garmin car adapter? Using the wrong cable and the Garmin will think that you are trying to connect to a computer. Not all USB cable are alike.

When connected to your computer it thinks that you want to upload or donwload information.
