Still having the problem with the LCD screen

I did clean and reseated the invertor board connection and this seem to work for a couple of days. I am back to the same problem with half the screen black with vertical lines. Could this be a problem with the invertor board? Should I try to replace this board or go through the cost of replacing the LCD screen? At this point I cannot even press on the top of the screen to get the full screen to reappear.

it seems that your tv is going to protection mode. that means any of the device is not working properly so it is going black. you can try fixing problem by opening the back cover & reseating the cables of power supply & main board. you also have to check the power supply of invertor pcb.

Dv4000 screen is on for a few seconds then goes black. Replaced screen balast and worked for 10 minutes, then went black again as before replacement. Should I replace the lcd screen?

No. The bulb is good. It could be the DC/DC invertor - that little curcuit board just beneath the in the LCD - or the video off the notebooks motherboard. - personal experiance points to that invertor

The invertor board will usually have 2 connections, each with 2 wires (usually white and pink) that go to the screen, thats how you can identify the invertor board

The power board is just as easy to locate... Just follow the wires back from where you plug the power into the TV.

Be warned though, the power/invertor board can contain lethal voltages even when unplugged! Be careful!

I Hope this is the info you wanted.

Screen keeps blinking on very slowely

hi friend,
Sounds like the invertor board is going bad (part of the LCD electronics), or possibly the ribbon cable connecting the LCD needs to be reseated. For that you will need someone who knows how to repair laptops.

Try this for now... hook it up to an external monitor and see if you have the same problem, if you do not have the problem then it is definitely the LCD/invertor board. You may have to hit a certain combination of function keys to switch video output once it's hooked up, for example on Dell Latitude laptops you must hit {Fn}&{F8} to toggle between the 3 settings for LCD/CRT. The settings are usually output to LCD only, CRT only, or both LCD and CRT at the same time. Allow a few seconds between each toggle.

Another thing to try is while it's flickering give the back of the LCD a few good taps with your fingers and see if that clears it up. That alone is sometimes enough to get you by

Sounds like one of the following is going on:

(1) The video card might be overheating. Make sure there is enough ventilation for unrestricted airflow around the laptop.

(2) There is a problem with your video card (hopefully not). If you haven't changed anything, like installed new drivers, then it might be the hardware.

(3) The cable connecting the LCD to your motherboard is loose. This *should* be an easy fix for any computer repair professional. Does it happen when you move your laptop into certain positions?

hope this helps u

Why does it take 10 minutes for my LCD Legend tv

Sounds like you have a faulty capacitor on your invertor..Gently press on the screen when there is no there light on the screen? If so, there is backlight but no video..hence a mainboard or power supply problem..If there is no backlight then the problem is the invertors or the power supply not supplying 24volts. The invertor is located on left or right hand side of screen..Check that all connections are secured and not loose.Check that the power supply capacitor tops on the power supply do not have bulging tops..If not, and voltage is reaching the invertor, then remove the invertor and check for bad solder joints and leaking capacitors.

My laptop is only 4 months old and my screen is very dark. I can hardly read the screen.

The connector that goes from the mother board or the invertor may be bad. Or the inverter board itself.
The wire is very delicate and goes from the motherboard and the invertor wire is also delicate. Repeated opens and closing of the screen can make the conections at the plug get weak and break.
Try connecting a LCD monitor alongside the laptop. Select the LCD and see if you get a video feed. If so then the wire connector and / or inverter is probably the sourse of your problems.

Replacing LCD Screen

it depends on if the exisiting invertor is fine or not. If the panel is being replaced because it was cracked etc, then the chances are the invertor is fine and will not need replacing. Obviously if you don't get the same replacement panel that Dell originally used, then you may have to buy a different invertor & figure out the wiring connections to attach it to the motherboard.

My jetdirect printers keep stoping printing during the day?

I would try removing both the jetdirect card and the formatter board and reseat both. Sounds like you just have a bad connection to one of those and removing and replacing them a couple of times will clean the contact and resolve that issue.

Still having the problem with the LCD screen

Most likely it is the inverter and or the back plain lamps that are failing. In screens where these are replaceable, I always replaced both the lamps and the inverters at the same time. A bad lamp can damage an inverter.
