The washing machine smells!!

The washing machine smells of eggs and making clothes smell, we put a 90 degree wash through with nothing in to try and flush anything through that may of been trapped it worked for the first time but the smell is back. We've cleaned the self cleaning filter at the front is there anything else we can do?

Run a load of just water and chlorine bleach. Run it HOT. After that, use bleach to clean the door seal and seat.

WF250 washing machine. Drum smells and clothes smell a bit too. have tried boil wash but no improvement. Washing machine is 6 years old and has no other faults. Can you help?

Due to mainly running low temp washes and bacteria building up in the hoses etc. (more prevalent if the machine is connected directly to the sink and not on a stand pipe) many machines will begin to smell, generally the smell is described as a damp flannel!. This can be transferred to the wash load if like myself you tend to put a load on before going to work and then removing when you get home. (The washing is clean but smells disgusting!!!)
Run a 90 degree cycle every 4 weeks with the machine empty except for two capfuls of baby sterilisng fluid (approx half a mug) If you buy stores own as it is cheaper than miltons. The first time you need to do this, run the cycle twice to be sure it was cleared out.
My machine is six years old and the first smelly signs were when it was about a year old, I do mainly 30 and 40 degree washes with and occasional 60.
I run the maintenance wash religiously ever 4 weeks and run a machine descaler such as oust thru every 4-6 months.
Hope this helps. Roni.
(ps don't be tempted to use bleach as it foams up and can cause more problems!!)

Keep having sour smelling clothes - pair about 5 years old. HELP! W6021 Quattro 1200 RPM

This will potentially sound odd, but run the 90 degree cycle with 3 dishwasher tablets in the drum. The smell is bacterial and probably the result of a build up of residue from biological soap powder (Which is simply bacteria that eat your stains). Dishwasher tablets are anti-bacterial and will kill the bugs making the smell

My front load washer has bad rotten egg smell when draining water

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} A lot of machines can suffer from this problem. It is usually down to a bacteria build up between the drum and the tub. The majority of appliances that suffer form this have been used mainly on 40 degree washes and with a biological detergent.
The best way to get rid of this smell is to place two tablespoons of washing soda or soda crystals in the detergent drawer and then run the appliance empty on the 90 degree wash. You may have to repeat this treatment several times before the smell goes but it will go eventually.

Ive just brought a re-conditioned bosch classixx washing machine,

boil wash the machine with old towels and powder, 90 degree wash will bring out the bleach in the powder and the old towels will throw the bleach around the tub removing the bacteria that has grown in the tub, the bacteria comes from the washing powder to eat the dirt in clothes and sometimes gets left in the tub and pipes (most people only wash at 40 degrees the bleach wont come out the powder until at least 60 degrees hence the build up and smell). you may have to do this twice to get it smelling good, remove the drawer also and clean off any bacteria with a cloth and spray bleach.
