The drum is driven by a belt attached to the motor. In order for the drum to turn freely, it is SUPPORTED by a rollers. One of these rolers may be broken (cracked or split) so the drum is not equally supportedon all sides.

If you open the machine up - you'll see it. Depending on the particular brand sometimes there a set 0of rollers in the front AND back, sometimes just the front - with the back supported by a central pivot.

I hope this helps

Replace beko 8227 drum bearings

Remove drium.
Remove bearing(s) from drum

Using a brass drift punch find the two slots behind the bearing race,
and drive the race out using the brass drift. If you must use a steel drift , wear eye protection as the race may shatter like glass.

Install new race, purchased for an auto parts dealer or a bearing dealer, if one is available to you, using the brass drift punch, or a piece of wood and a hammer . Do not allow the hammer to touch the new race.

Pack the new bearing(s) with grease. Reassemble drum onto machine.

Final high speed spin very noisey

Something is causing the drum to be way out of balance. Does it bang and make noise when it's spinning empty? Probably not. Is something stuck on the side (inside of course) of the drum, causing it to shake when spinning? If not, a spring or shock absorber (connecting drum to sides, bottom or top of machine) has broken or come loose.

My Whirlpool front load washer is out of balance when spinning. It makes a loud noise. How do I get the tub back in balance? GHW9200LQ is the model.

Hi,
Whirlpool front load washers have shock absorbers that helps them in moving the washer around the place. Due to regular usage of the washer it may tend to break. This will result in drum hammering sound . To clear this problem pull the bottom front off and check the shocks. Typically the rings where the pins go through are where they will break. You have to grab them and should have a complete check by moving them to see that whether they are broken.
Thank you !!

How to disassemble main shaft to replace bearing and seal

Not as simple as it seems. Definately a technique acquired from lots of stripping. There are times when the spider has a broken rivit internally holding one arm onto the rotating drum. If so, everythind has to be opened to enable you to remove inner drum. If not, a rubber hammer and a pulley. Remove appropriate screws proceed to pull assembly off.

My washer is out of balance when spinning.

Hi,
Your problem is probably much more than the washer being out of balance. The front load washers have shock absorbers that hold them from moving all over the place. These have a habit of breaking. Then the drum hammers and sounds like things are flying apart. Pull the bottom front off and check the shocks. Typically the rings where the pins go throuhg are where they will break. Sometimes at first they look okay and you have to grab them and move them to see that they are broken.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

The tumbler/drum of my washer is sitting at an angle. is this repairable?

hi there ....this problem is usuallly caused by a problem with the the drum suspension...broken/ dislodged spring...broken damer at bottom of drum assembly (shock absorber)...cracked or broken base on machine...(will require welding)...broken or dislodged counterweight
these roblems are generally all repairable

Fix main bearing

On every front-loading washing machine which I've replaced the main bearing on, it's normally removed and refitted using a suitable sized drift and a club hammer. Most of the time i find a trusty one foot length of scaffold tube which is in my toolbox does the trick.

If the washing machine has a polypropylene outer drum rather than a steel one then it's rare that the drum doesn't break whilst attempting the repair. On these types I've usually fitted a used drum from a scrapped machine, or more frequently just replaced the entire machine with another used machine which has been thrown away with a silly little problem like a blocked or broken pump.

Something stuck in drum, spinning cycle loud hammering/clacking sound

hi there,

sounds like you may have something caught between the tumbler and the cabinet. since the drum has holes in it, can you have a look if you can see anything that's come of clothing, like a bra wire. it's usually something bigger.
