Question about KitchenAid KSRA25ILSS Side by Side Refrigerator
Water leaks in from freezer. eventually filling vegetable bins and falling out onto floor. Ice formation near back top shelf and other shelves.
I would like to take refrigerator apart but there does not seem to be access
The defrost drain is frozen, you need to take the cover off inside the freezer and there will be a drain hole probably coverd with ice, you will need to pop most of the ice out first then I use a turkey baster and a tub of hot water. Squirt the hot water in the hole over and over again untill it drains. Then just wipe everything down. Problem solved.

I have a side by side kitchen aide Model # KSRA25FKBL00. The freezer was leaking, we keep finding water on the floor and when you opened the freezer the floor of the freezer was covered with ice. I tried finding a solution online but they all seemed to involve removing parts and I wasn’t conformable doing that. I just had a repair man here.
I spent $125 to have it fixed. It took him less than 5 mins. What he did was chipped the ice away. He took a plastic bottle with a small plastic hose coming out of it, filled with hot water and poured it down the defrost drain at the bottom of the freezer. I don’t think you really would need the tube. There is a defrost drain at the bottom of my freezer that drains into a pan under the fridge. The repair man said it defrosts every 8 hours and drains and sometimes it gets clogged.
I hope someone can save some money with this tip; it was such an easy fix. He tried to block what he was doing, but I stood over his shoulder watching.

My kenmore refrigerator has a sheet of ice under the plastic liner, it was also leaking water into the lower refrigerator. Mine doesn't have a cup, it is just a vent lined with sytrofoam. I determined that freezer drain was plugged up. One man's advice was to disconnect the drain hose behind the refrigerator and use an air compressor to blow through downward into the pan located under the refrigerator. I tried blowing through the other way through the freezer drain. I believe it has worked. The outside of the freezer/refrigerator feels cold now, before it was warm to the touch.

The remedy by handybrett was right on. In addition, I would suggest that using a hair dryer to melt the ice in the drain hole works faster then squirting with a turkey baster. I only used the baster to test to make sure the drain was totally unpluged.

Maybe, Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use
and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater
comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost
drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the
freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.
Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer
